Still the only place to go for live Ikan Haruan in Ipoh. Their oil dipped Ikan Haruan was especially good. The meat of the fish was very springy and QQ due to extreme freshness. However, this type of fish had many fine bones especially at the abdominal area. Avoid this dish if you are dining with very old folks and young children. 10/6/2023 Saturday Addicted to their oil dipped Ikan Haruan (油浸生鱼). Tonight, eating dinner alone and I ordered this dish again. For this fish, the asking price was RM60 per Kg. 20/8/2023 Saturday Still ordered my favourite dish, the oil dipped ikan haruan. Fish today was only 600g, just the right size for solo diner like me. As expected, the food tasted very good, except that this type of fish had too many fine bones. One needs to have full concentration while eating. 14/10/2023 Saturday It was two months since I last savoured Ikan Haruan. This evening, decided to go back to this restaurant again to satisfy my sudden craving for this fish. The fish they gave me this time weighted about 800g. The meat was very tasty, firm and springy as the fish was still swimming up to the very last minute. As expected, the taste was excellent. As far as I know, Wah Chai Seafood is still the only restaurant selling live ikan haruan in Ipoh after...

The food here is indeed delicious and flavorful. However, there is a lack of a menu to choose dishes from. Customers can only select a few dishes they like from the pictures displayed on the wall. Additionally, prices are not provided since there is no menu.

I had specifically requested for baby squid fry and baby kailan, but unfortunately, I was served regular squid and regular kailan instead. Despite emphasizing the word "baby" for both dishes and receiving confirmation from the staff, they still brought the wrong items.

The service here also leaves room for improvement. Once the dishes are served, the staff tends to neglect the customers. It is necessary to personally approach them to request additional items such as extra rice or chili. However, I understand that the number of staff members is limited compared to the number of customers visiting the establishment.

On a positive note, the prices here are very reasonable, and there is no cause for complaint in...

Wah Chai's food quality drops so much! I called to reserve our 2 tables around 6 pm. We reached at the restaurant 6.30pm & placed order for our dinner. It took them 8.20pm to deliver the food out. The reason given was we are in queue. Our tables had placed their orders in advanced while we placed ours the spot, hence we have to wait in queue. I scolded them that they should have told me that the waiting time for food to be served is more than 1.5 hours when i called to reserve 2 tables. If i had known it took so bloody long time to serve the food then i would have changed the venue for our family dinner. We will never go there anymore! By the way the food...

The restaurant has been there since I was still working here and went there with my colleagues. Now I am back with my family Ordered Haruan fish with 3 ways of cooking whole fish (1.6kg) Fish thick soup Dried Chili (fish slices) Salted Vegi soup Some others like Buttered mantis prawn Tofu Bitter bean with minced pork Overall experience: not bad and portion is big (even we ordered small size, good!)
