May 2023 - I really think this place deserve a fair rating with nice decent foods and the selection of menu offered by different stall.
We actually came back again within 2 months period; all the way from outstation for the mee rebus. We dint expect it so good during the previous first visit. The texture of the broth is exactly how we love it . Nostalgic childhood flavour. The mee jawa broth texture is the soul of the dish. It wasn’t too runny or either the opposite. The right amount of blende boiled potato is very crucial to hv the right consistency. Instead of using ketchup and chilies sauce to season the flavour broth, this stall uses the right amount of spices to create that flavourful experience. Really love it base on personal preference and expectation. Is not sweet, but the right amount of savoury.
Red wine Mee Sua is standard and I would say still concentrate enough or slightly more flavourful than most restaurants I tried here.
The sweet potato noodle soup is an interesting dish. Either u like it or acceptably take it as a local staple. We both like the soup. The sweet potato ball skin texture taste like starchy tong yuan and the filling is like a combination of char siew bao filling and Jiu Hu Char. We found this an interesting experience to try this dish for the first time.
The aunty selling both mee sua and noodle soup are pleasant too.
As for the drinks are standard. But their service are nice and courteous. Kudos to them.
Understood that many reviewers mentioned about the flies issue. Yes indeed it occurred to us too but still acceptable as this is what a standard roadside kopitiam scene. Ofcos solving this issue will be fantastic to the diner.
Overall, the environment is quite comfortable to our expectation of a local kopitiam stall.
Visited again for the 3rd time on May 2024. The mee rebus still equally nice. Since this round we reached much earlier, we manage fo to try the roti canai stall which normally sold off before 11am. SO GOOD!! We never had enough and immediately ordered the 2nd pcs. Cos it taste like how i had it at kid. The thickness just right with the top layer of crispiness and slightly soft in the inside. And most importantly is the nostalgic taste, not even a tinge of sourness, just fragrant of the ingredients used to make the dough. Hardly find nowadays. By the way, no flies issue this round could due to seasonal or the owner...
Read moreEverything here is beautiful. This is one of the beauty of Sitiawan. Just park anywhere you want and have a breakfast under the tree. Ample space of seatings with clean environment. Good airflow and you don’t feel stuck and compressed. The foods here are all good. From their famous Youtiao, crispy fried banana with sesame seeds, Sarawak’s mee, fried rice, Roti Canai, Mee Rebus, chicken rice, western breakfast and all kind of drinks. All were good for me.
Tried Kolok Mee, Youtiao and pancakes. All the foods and drinks can be ordered but my stomach doesn’t have the space to fill up😆 Kolok Mee was nice. Good protein portion. Owner was sweet and nicely speaking. Youtiao has their own crazy fans. You need to order first then they will send to your table. The busiest stall in this shop. The pancakes have 10 flavours. I ordered Banana Chocolate. I have eaten better taste and texture than this. Was a decent dessert for me.
Overall was a good breakfast/brunch spot for people around here. It seems most locals have their breakfast here. The saddest part for me is, this place is closed on Sundays🥲Will definitely recommend to outsiders who coming down or passing by...
Read moreIt is really a nice breakfast place in Setiawan. If you are in Setiawan, make sure you have your breakfast in this place.
Their coffee is nice and has a variety of noodles to choose from. They even have the famed Setiawan Red Wine Chicken Noodle.
Although the taste for the red eibe chicken noodle was mild too, but this place version is still better than the one in Yee Si Kopitiam.
There is also a stall at the front of this kopitiam that sells yu tiao. It is nice and goes well with the kopitiam kopi-o.
Overall, this is really a very comfortable alfresco location to have breakfast. By the look of it, all the stalls seems to be doing well and having their own followings. We did not get to try all of them as we have had another breakfast before we came here.
Will be back to try out the rest of the food here when we visit Setiawan again,...
