This magnificent museum located a short drive from Sitiawan takes visitors on a colorful historical journey. Inside, preserved artifacts and bilingual storyboards conjure a touching tale of industrious pioneers who left Mainland China for their new home in Malaya in their quest for better life and a safe place to practice their faith over a century ago. The museum also showcases curated displays which offer visitors a wholesome way of appreciating the hardships faced by early Fuzhou migrants. Despite working against great odds they finally triumphed and turned inhospitable jungles into fertile farms and a thriving community. Touring the galleries particularly those featuring the early days of the settlement in Sitiawan is an excellent way to learn about life from a time long gone. Visitors will also be mesmerized by the fabulous collections of artifacts relating to farming, trading and education. Nevertheless, visitors who are not religiously inclined may find the exhibitions in the new blocks highlighting the history of Christianity in Malaysia somewhat...
Read moreThis place is a niche museum. Its focus is on the history of the Chinese Christians who settled in Sitiawan in the early 1900s. Museum has two parts - the original building that focuses more on daily life and the modern building that focuses more on the church. Lots of era appropriate artifacts, static displays and some videos. There is an entrance fee, but forget how much. If in Sitiawan, I recommend dropping by museum. We bought a few dozen of them to distribute to the family back in KL as everyone...

The former is one of the best curated legacy museum I have been to in Malaysia. Items are nicely arranged in rooms and they are tagged with information. You get to learn what each item does and its significance to the community.
The latter focuses on Christianity in general and its role in the foochow community. You do NOT have to be a Christian to appreciate the display and information (for the record, I am not a Christian).
Syabas - the church has done a tremendous job curating and up keeping the museum! And keeping the entry...
