This magnificent museum located a short drive from Sitiawan takes visitors on a colorful historical journey. Inside, preserved artifacts and bilingual storyboards conjure a touching tale of industrious pioneers who left Mainland China for their new home in Malaya in their quest for better life and a safe place to practice their faith over a century ago. The museum also showcases curated displays which offer visitors a wholesome way of appreciating the hardships faced by early Fuzhou migrants. Despite working against great odds they finally triumphed and turned inhospitable jungles into fertile farms and a thriving community. Touring the galleries particularly those featuring the early days of the settlement in Sitiawan is an excellent way to learn about life from a time long gone. Visitors will also be mesmerized by the fabulous collections of artifacts relating to farming, trading and education. Nevertheless, visitors who are not religiously inclined may find the exhibitions in the new blocks highlighting the history of Christianity in Malaysia somewhat overbearing.

A little museum with a big heart. Enjoyed my time here learning about the foochow community. There are two parts of the museum - the older original building and the newer extension. The former is one of the best curated legacy museum I have been to in Malaysia. Items are nicely arranged in rooms and they are tagged with information. You get to learn what each item does and its significance to the community. The latter focuses on Christianity in general and its role in the foochow community. You do NOT have to be a Christian to appreciate the display and information (for the record, I am not a Christian). Syabas - the church has done a tremendous job curating and up keeping the museum! And keeping the entry cost very cheap.

A well-preserved old building, retrofitted to become part of the museum focusing on Sitiawan settlement by the Foochow people and the Methodist missionary. The exhibits are laid over 3 floors of the main building, while the old colonial house display exhibits and artefacts on life activities in the early and middle 20th century. There is an entrance ticket to the museum, with a toilet and elevator available for the public. On the top floor of the building, you can get a bird' eye view of the surrounding area. Most wall displays are bilingual (Mandarin and English), but the artefacts could use better display signage to explain better. It's worth a short visit if you're in Sitiawan.

This place is a niche museum. Its focus is on the history of the Chinese Christians who settled in Sitiawan in the early 1900s. Museum has two parts - the original building that focuses more on daily life and the modern building that focuses more on the church. Lots of era appropriate artifacts, static displays and some videos. There is an entrance fee, but forget how much. If in Sitiawan, I recommend dropping by museum. I love char kway teoh and near the museum at Restoran Sing Hing is some of the best you can get. Lastly, if in Sitiawan you must try the local kompiang, a pancake/cracker filled with either onion or pureed beef. Sitiawan is known for this food. We bought a few dozen of them to distribute to the family back in KL as everyone...
