Honest review from 2 passing by travellers - this seems like the only 煮炒Zi Char Chinese restaurant in Padang Besar town. Luckily they are open during Ramadhan month. But there must be a problem because my experience was not like previous reviewers. 1. There is only 1 cook/chef, so food is very slow to be served. 2. The portions are TINY. (Maybe adjusted portion but not price because we were only 2 pax) 3. The prices were EXORBITANT. Vegetables - RM5 (ok, cheap) Prawns 明虾 - RM24 for 1 small plate of 4 pcs (SUPER EXPENSIVE, meaning RM6/pc and they were not good/fresh!) Fried Chicken - RM13 for 1 small plate (on the higher side of price) Rice - RM2/bowl (Expensive, considering their bowl was quite small) Tea - RM0.50/glass (cheap) Total RM45 for 2 pax lunch. When dishes were served they LOOKED SAD, when eating they TASTED SAD and when paying I WAS SAD. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ When paying I was shocked, and asked how come so expensive? Especially since our 5-course Thai dinner(with drinks) last night for 2 pax was only RM38 total. The lady owner said “Didn’t you know? These Ming Prawns very expensive one!” And she even said “Receipt you take lah, I’m not worried one!” I would say I would never come again. But then, they kind of are the only Chinese stir-fry restaurant in town…sigh…

A hidden gem in Padang Besar! This humble Chinese seafood restaurant is run by a friendly husband-and-wife team who cook with heart, not haste. The food here is truly delicious — full of flavour, freshly made, and easily the best Chinese seafood restaurant in Padang Besar. Their claypot curry prawns and vegetable dishes are rich and comforting — just like home-cooked meals. Since the couple runs the kitchen on their own, do expect a slightly slower pace, especially during peak hours. But trust me, good food is worth waiting for. The place is also great for big groups, especially tourists arriving by bus or families looking for a proper sit-down meal. It’s best to book in advance, as seats can fill up quickly and every dish is cooked fresh to order. Prices are reasonable for the quality. If you’re concerned about budget, the fried rice is a good choice — affordable and tasty. Highly recommended if you’re passing through Padang Besar and craving comforting Chinese seafood dishes. I’ll definitely return again.

28 July 2024 From the reviews and the only proper Chinese restaurant in this area (very close to the border), I decided to come here. Ordered dry chili chicken (RM10) + mix vegetables (RM5). Price is for one pax. Both tasted good 👍🏼 They also have other dishes like fish and shrimps. Service is good, lady boss is friendly. As for the beers (yes they serve them here), only served in warm cans with ice cubes. One Tiger can is RM8.50, which is pricey. I guess it's because of the limitations in getting alcohol in this state. Closing hours is 6pm latest. Overall it's good to have local Chinese delicacies here.
