Da Jia Lai Restaurant — Restaurant in Selangor

Da Jia Lai restaurant in Ijok is now easily accessible via the newly opened West Coast Expressway.

We arrived slightly after lunch hour and there were already many tables filled. It seems this particular restaurant is quite popular.

Our orders were seafood porridge, which was incredibly delicious; fried oysters in batter (Orh Chien), fried calamari, steamed bamboo clams, and fried cockles in dark sauce.

I believe their seafood porridge is their signature dish. The taste is exquisite and the porridge is superbly soft whilst the contents - crab, prawn and fish were incredibly savoury and tender. I just couldn't get enough of the porridge! Yum!

The steamed bamboo clams were good, but the fried oysters and calamari were just average. Nothing to shout about.

Please bear in mind this is a pork-free restaurant. The downside of this restaurant are the pesky flies darting everywhere - spoiling an otherwise enjoyable dining experience!

Extremely poor hygiene – ruined the entire dining experience. I felt like I was eating next to a trash bin. There were flies everywhere – so many that I even had to swat and kill one with my hand. One of the flies landed on the crab I ordered, and the staff simply removed it and returned the same dish. That’s absolutely disgusting and unacceptable.

Instead of addressing the real problem, they just placed a few candles on the table, which did nothing to keep the flies away. It’s laughable — three candles won’t solve a serious hygiene issue. If you want to run a proper restaurant, especially one serving seafood, you need to get the fly problem...

Such a bad experience, it completely spoiled my whole family dinner. Especially the girl who was taking the order! We’ve been to many Chinese restaurants and most of them are kind and nice, but sadly not this one :(

We went around 9:30pm, which is quite late, but if it was already closing time, they could have simply informed us. Instead, they let us in, started cleaning the restaurant, and worst of all, they began sweeping the floor while we were eating. SERIOUSLY?? Isn’t it just common sense not to sweep while customers are still dining??
