I recently had the pleasure of dining at Damo Curry House, and it was an unforgettable experience. This cozy little gem of a restaurant takes your taste buds on an exotic journey with their delectable banana leaf cuisine.
From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted by the warm and friendly staff who made me feel right at home. The restaurant's ambiance is charming, that sets the mood for a delightful dining experience.
The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the banana leaf spread. The fragrant aroma of freshly steamed rice served on a banana leaf, accompanied by an array of mouthwatering curries and accompaniments, was simply divine. Each curry had its own distinct flavor profile, showcasing the chef's expertise in blending spices and creating authentic tastes from various regions.
The vegetarian options were equally impressive, catering to all palates. The fried bitter gourd and the assortment of vegetable dishes were bursting with flavors and cooked to perfection. As a non-vegetarian, I also savored the succulent chicken curry, tender mutton, and spicy fish preparation - a true carnivore's delight.
To complement the meal, they offer a selection of refreshing beverages, including traditional Indian drinks like lassi and refreshing coconut water. Dessert was the perfect ending, with a delectable range of traditional sweets to satisfy any sweet tooth.
The service was exceptional throughout the evening, with attentive staff ensuring that every need was met promptly. Their knowledge of the menu and willingness to offer recommendations made the dining experience even more pleasant.
In conclusion, Damo Curry House is a culinary oasis for those seeking an authentic and delightful banana leaf dining experience. The flavors, the ambiance, and the service combine to create an unforgettable meal that I will cherish for a long time. Whether you're a seasoned fan of Indian cuisine or a curious food explorer, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit. I will definitely be returning to relish their delightful offerings.

Read moreVery interesting experiences I had in this restaurant whenever I've been dining since they opened a month back. 1st visit- tosai batter wasn't fermented well so they took the tosai back after I ate some. I realized the batter wasn't fermented but I understood it was their first day so I didn't make a fuss. 2nd visit- brother had nasi goreng ayam end up full of skins & neck pieces. He quietly ate coz didn't want me to voice out. 3rd visit- take away for lunch today 1 pack of rice + veg + 3 pcs pepper chicken, cost rm11.50 . When I got back & opened the food I realized that the chicken had 3 pcs with 2 neck part without meat & 1 half of upper drumstick part. How would someone eat just neck pcs? Also another pc chicken wasn't cooked well & the flesh & bone were raw even hard to pull out the flesh.
I was totally speechless upon seeing such raw meat & 2 neck pcs was given. I had a very bad experience not to lie for my entire 3 times visit. I was happy that we finally have a indian restaurant within our neighborhood. But I didn't expect the food quality will be so terrible. We pay for our food obviously. But I don't think it's negotiable when we get neck pcs for twice visits. Not sure if anyone else encounter this. Owners please get the quality checking done before serving to clients. I almost threw out after seeing raw meat. Hope you guys can look into this. It's a human error & can be repaired easily unless you want the restaurant to run this way with raw meat & neck / skin servings. I have taken the photo & video in case if the owners need me to share.
For owner's respond : For the high quality ulundhu tosai batter as you mentioned, it was told by your staff. He the one came to me and ask for apologies & took away the tosai saying they blended the flour slightly late so the flour wasn't fermented well yet & stop me from eating. Wasn't me called him & told. Even while paying he came to counter & told the lady owner not to...
Read moreCame here 3 times already. Very good banana leaf rice and thosai. The mutton is highly recommended. My partner loves the masala tea with cow milk here. I like their lassi. The foods look fresh and nice everytime i come. They have become my favourite banana leaf that is nearby my house. Only gripe i had was with the order takers sometimes have trouble understanding both malay / english. Repeating order once or twice is fine. But when i had to repeat it again and again is actually quite annoying. I had to ask for other order takers.
Update 24/05/2024 :-
It has became our favourite shop for banana leaf and masala tea. However recently there were hit and miss issues.
Their cow milk masala tea used to be very good. It was our favourite. But recently the quality has dropped, not sure if its staff changes or other reasons. We came twice on different days and got dissappointed both times. The milk tasted very diluted and not as thick/fragrant as before. I hope they improve their drink quality.
Thosai still very good, but there should be better quality control. Sometimes the thosai served was a tad undercooked (not brown enough, still very white)
Banana leaf however is still top quality. Mutton is highly...
