Ok, this one is wayyyy overrated. Was excited by the reviews of this place coupled with a really bad hunger so we ordered loh mee. Not only we gotta wait for everything, we gotta served our own drinks by taking from the fridge. After 25mins, the loh mee reached our table. The taste isn't so bad but omg, they could be so trickingly stingy, we discovered that the entire big bowl of the mee only contained 97% of their so called very tasty handmade mee. That said, 3% is attributed to 3 little shreds of pork (literally), and 4 pieces of baby shrimp (exactly). This is absurd by all levels. Apart from the loh mee, we ordered lala and a vegetable too. We literally ate one dish after another because the service is so fashionably slow. Service = BAD. Next, the lala came. It was nice because of the taste. I rate 5/10 for this one because the gravy of the dish is good. Then after 20 mins (i really wanted to yell), the vege arrived on our table. It tasted so bad. Just a simple vege dish and they could totally thrash it. I timed ourselves there = 1hr 30min just for these simple dishes which, doesn't even come close to justify the quality of food we had. Out of 10 points, I really like to rate them 3 but due to the services given, I gotta give a rating of 2/ 10 purely for the lala alone. I don't want to be a jerk for my honesty but I can't live without being honest to myself and especially to my hungry human companeros, especially when they stumble upon Ulu Yam for some original loh mee. Take my advice, skip this one and go try the other premises nearby instead, they aren't far, just up ahead the street we could spot 4 other kopitiam which I regrettably knock myself on head, why didn't I try... Okay, I really wish this restaurant operator all the best but I really felt cheated when they slapped us RM62 for the entire thing plus the drinks and 1 unfortunate pre ordered tapau. (Sigh). Thank you...
Read moreI am in between 3 or 4 stars. The signature dish here is supposed to be loh mee, however I find it to be so-so on par with a few other loh mee establishment around. Their claim to fame is just that the noodles are self-made, but that's all about it. HOWEVER, the hokkien mee I ordered on the side turn out to be the star of today's meal. Thick black gravy using the very same noodle as loh mee. It has the same taste as hokkien mee fried using charcoal stove. Great dish. Add in their belacan, it became heavenly superb. Definitely worth to return. The fish cake is smooth and chewy but I am not a fan of those. The only down side is the IDGAF attitude of the taukehso and the slow serving speed. As for whether it's worth the wait, I'll leave it to...
Read moreWent there for lunch due to good review. However the visit left me with disappointment. We ordered the so called famous fu Chuk mix, Loh mee and hokkien mee, milo ice, white coffee and Leong Sui. Only the pork roll was good out of the fry chuk and fish cake, Loh mee was dark in color which was weird, the Sambal to complement the loh mee was sour, hokkien mee was mushy, the Leong Sui was placed in a bottle which look rather recycled, milo was tasteless and white coffee was pre-mix. Overall, it was enough to only try once. Hygiene : 3/5 (shop looks old and grubby. taste : 3/5 Service : 4/5 Price : 4/5 Location : 3/5 Luckily managed to grab some ready cut guava which was the best among...
