Good morning foodie adventurers! To make sure you don't have to queue or wait for your food, come to this place EARLY!. Ulu Yam Lama is just on your right as you navigate the bridge heading towards Genting Highlands when you come in through KL via the Rawang Bypass crossing small towns like Antara Gapi and Serendah. The so-called "Main Road" is just one straight road after veering right from the bridge. There are 3 stalls featuring the famous Loh Mee and it's obvious they are competitors. I chose this outlet because of Youtuber Nick's review. The Loh Mee is not too thick, piping hit, fragrant and ingredients are fresh. You can ask for separate Vinegar in case you get stung unexpectedly by it's flavor. Thumbs up 👍 for their fried FooChuk. It is tasty, Crispy, bears the delicate flavor of foochuk with slight fermented bean sauce infused in the frying oil. My brother polished off the whole plate after i managed to steal one piece off it. The fish cake has a strong flavor of ikan parang. Well fried! The fried pork is infused with fermented tofu sauce and the pieces/portions ate generously large. Only their coffee is a disappointment- it is not hot enough and severely diluted. Overall, the meal is reasonably priced (all together rm55 for two) and though i wish i could order their sweet potato leaves, i was too full to put anything else into my stomach. Will definitely come back to try the remaining two competitors and conclude a better...
Read moreI was here few times when we are on our way to Genting (A kampung place and its hidden away from the main road), this place never failed us, its a must that we gotta stop by for a short break before we continue uphill to enjoy the cool breeze.
As always we will order their Chee Cheong Fun that taste special, it has a very unique gravy which has some fried shrimp taste which we can't get it else where, and guess it is their signature?
Lor Noodles would be another dish which we called irresistible!! But you gotta go with vinegar (Perhaps more for us) One of the best Lor Noodles we have had in whole Ulu Yam... Again it must have been our taste bud...
Not to forget.. fried fish cake, we will takeaway at least 5 or 6 pieces up hill and back town... It could maintain its chewiness and freshness. Best of all it does not go soggy nor soft at all!!
Overall the service portions are huge while you dine in.. Doesn't have any experience for any takeaway of Lor Noodles tho..
Check this place out if you just nearby!!!

Read moreNothing to expect on deco, kampung style restaurant with air conditioning. If you are sitting outside, do share with some flies. There's a parking by the side operated by someone else, only RM2.
Usual here in Ulu Yam that people orders loh mee. We got to order their fried cheong fun, stir fried siham (cockles) and mun yee mee (braised yee mee). Someone said the loh me is better in the shop we passed by.
The bottled guava juice is a bit sweet though.
The fried cheong fun came first, quite unique as fried rolled cheong fun like kam heong, tasted very well. Then came the loh mee where we found it quite nice too, the mun yee mee was great and the stir fried siham was sauce great with ham choy (preserved veggie) in it. The siham was so so.
Will visit again for the fried cheong fun and yee mee, there are other...
