I accidentally discovered this shop via Grab Food delivery a few years back and have kept coming back every now and then, especially when I want to introduce someone to taste their Nasi Lemak.
I visited with two of my partners in crime. I ordered Nasi Lemak Telur Goreng, while the others ordered Nasi Lemak Sambal Telur with two sausages and Nasi Lemak Sambal Paru. We also bought their Kuih Keria.
The Nasi Lemak itself is mild yet distinctively fragrant, with fluffy individual rice grains that shine through. The sambal is not your typical paste; their style is a sweet-spicy sambal believed to be homemade, with a distinctive taste of gula merah/gula kabung.
There's nothing wrong with the condiments or side dishes in our menu – whether it's the telur goreng, sausages, boiled egg 🥚, cucumber 🥒, ground peanuts 🥜, or fried anchovies, everything was perfectly made and served in just the right amounts.
While the sambal telur and sambal paru were delicious, they didn't have a wow factor. However, we happily finished our meals. For my personal preference, the MVP (most valuable player) was always their Kuih Keria. They have two types, the normal keria and gula melaka, both finger-licking-good delicious, priced at RM4/5 pieces. You can taste the well-made gebu gebas, with no clumps of sweet potatoes 🍠 and no overpowering sugar taste.
This place is a classic eatery with multiple hawkers inside, offering two seating areas, one with a roof and one under open sky. With approximately 30 tables, it can get packed with people and food delivery riders during meal hours for breakfast 🍳, lunch 🥙, and dinner 🍽️. I suggest planning your visit ahead, especially for breakfast and lunch, as it's not suitable to eat when the sun 🌞 is right above our heads. They used to have a vast open space parking area, but it has now been cut in half, accommodating around 20-25 cars 🚗 at one time.
The total cost for the three of us was RM32.50. Personally, whether it's a short queue or a long one, it is worth queuing. Like I said earlier, plan your...
Read moreAnother Sunday morning drive makan adventure took us to Nasi Lemak Mak Long in Sungai Merab, Kajang. About 38.4km from Kelana Jaya (40 minutes drive). As usual, on Sunday the drive was pleasant with very little traffic till we entered Sungai Merab district where most cars slowed down I presume to hunt for food. There were a lot of small road side stalls especially along Persiaran Kemajuan on the way to Mak Long which stretches to about 4.4km. We arrived around 09:30 and the queue for Mak Long was looooooooong (pun intended). Sarina queued patiently while I booked a table for us. Service was fast and excellent. Advisable to bring a hat and a portable fan as the sun can be up if seated at the open air section unless you can get a seat indoors. We preferred the ambience al fresco which is best suited for nasi lemak. Sarina had nasi lemak while I opted for the nasi kerabu. We were not disappointed. Sarina enjoyed her nasi lemak especially with her favourite sambal kerang (the cockles were fresh). The sambal was super duper spicy according to that someone who always says bring the hotness on! The fried chicken was a little undercooked. Perhaps acceptable for some but we would have preferred it thoroughly cooked. The nasi kerabu took quite an effort to finish. The portion was that generous. Bonus was, it was quite good. I could have requested for more sambal belacan though. Total bill for the dine in was RM39 inclusive of drinks. It would be definite yes to take another morning drive to enjoy Nasi...
Read moreThe must try @ eat place when u are in bangi esp Sg. Merab area. Authentic nasi lemak cooked with a lot of coconut milk & pandan leaves. Smell is great. Complete with the must hv condiments (peanut, anchovies, cucumber & sambal), you can pair it with many more additional dish from ayam goreng, beef rendang, lung sambal, sambal petai and the list goes on. More than 10 dishes actually. Beside nasi lemak, there are lontong, soto, nasi kukus, pulut kuning, nasi kerabu, mee kari, mee, meehoon, etc. But you can enjoy their nasi lemak start from breakfast as early at 7.00 am till dinner around 10pm if not mistaken. Their kuihs especially keria gula melaka is the hot star. I guarantee you wont regret to try it as no need to travel far to Limbungan Melaka 😉 Popiah basah also my fav there.
Some people might say it is a bit pricey for all dishes there but for me personally : the price is reasonable and the taste, portion & quality is worth the money.
Me as regular customer via Panda or thru take away by hubby since the place is always full & crowded 😁 even it nearby my house with 2 mins drive...
