We arrived at 11.30am and there is already a queue. Turnaround is quite fast. After waiting for about 10 minutes we were seated. Order was taken almost immediately. Drinks are limited to a few signatures and standard kopi/teh. Roast pork was sold out even before we got a table. So miss trying that. We ordered a serving of mix meat consisting of crystal char siu, roast duck and chicken (I wouldn't call the chicken roast as it was deep fried), black vinegar pork trotter, yau mak, dry wanton mee and rice. Lets review the char siu which is supposed to be their best seller beside the roast pork. Personally, it lacks flavour. Apart from the saltiness, the balanced sweetness is non existence. The melt in the mouth feeling is just not present. Very disappointing. The roast duck and chicken are normal. Nothing special. Now, the noodles, could be due to the crowd, the texture is a bit soggy. However the second plate we ordered has just the right springy texture. Rice - flavourful. The dark soy sauce that we added to the it, kind of enhanced the flavour. Surprisingly, the black vinegar gravy is nicely balanced - sour and sweet. The pork pieces just fall off the bones. It leaves your mouth feeling stick - good. Service is above the standard of normal Chinese eateries. Order was promptly taken but just have to wait a bit due to the crowd. The damage RM78 for 2 person. Too bad, didn't get the opportunity to try the roast pork. Might come back to...

But seriously, Spring Golden is very famous for their char siew. Trying to come even in weekdays and high chances that you have to wait for tables especially during lunch hour, as it was popular with the lunch crowd.. and did I mention that it's very near to a lot of factories and commercial areas in Shah Alam?
◾Char siew - the caramelisation of the pork belly was perfect with slightly charred on the outer layer. To be honest, the char siew was not transculent enough to warrant the name glass char siew but even so, it was very good.. sweetz sticky and melt-in-the-mouth. So good that I had to order a second plate of this. ◾Wantan noodle with sui gao - this seems to be the popular choice with the patrons here. The Sui gao was big and filled with generous ingredients. ◾siew yuk - better than the chicken. ◾Roasted chicken - good ◾Kopi ais - served in a jar like glass rather than a cup, I like how "gao" the kopi
The lunch crowd at its peak could spill out to the pedestrian walkway but many seem not to mind sitting outside braving the heat. Does it worth driving all the way here for the char siew?...

Came here on 5 Nov 2022. First time here post-MCO. Char siew here still melts in your mouth with deliciously charred edges (but fatty - - you've been warned). My husband and I come here and order 3 portions char siew + 1 portion siew yuk. Siew yuk has crispy skin but you can give it a miss, if you like. If available, you can also try asking for chu kiok chou (vinegar pork trotters). Get the kopi - it's quite kaw and tasty.
I usually reach here before or by 12pm. If you decide to tapau, you may need to wait a bit. Usually got a few people in queue. But food arrives within maybe 10 to 15 mins if you dine-in. 7 portions of char siew + 1 portion of siew yuk plus 2 drinks came up to about RM125 so perhaps RM17 for each portion of char siew (we usually order by pax eg "1 person char siew" etc.
Edit: Came here on 22 May 2024 and the char siew is STILL.SO.GOOD. 500gm char siew, drinks, one takeaway meal etc came up to RM108.00. 300gm of char siew should be enough for 2 pax. Still worth it haha. Despite the busy-ness (people queueing to tapau etc), the staff are still friendly and accommodating....
