Beautiful space. The other restaurants have more of a general beach decor, but this one is more decorated to the type of restaurant (Japanese) and other than waves cafe, the only one with AC. The welcome drink was so delicious. The staff was all so kind and welcoming and helpful. We had the all inclusive plan and opted to do more “apps” instead of dessert. The nigiri was good. Not amazing but not bad. The chirashi was a nice dish (counted as 2 apps because it was bigger). I was really excited about the duck for my entree but it was over cooked. Not horribly chewy but no pink in the middle but the flavors were amazing. They offered to bring me something else instead and at the point I was getting tired and less hungry (time difference was tough for me) so I just got a roll and it was good. The other main we got was a noodle dish with seafood. But they were out of the soba noodles and had to replace it with udon noodles and I don’t think it was as good with those. The seafood was also a little tough. The starters were good but I was a little disappointed with the mains. But the staff always did a tremendous job to make it a great experience no matter what. I think it’s also tough to have good consistency in cooking and preparation when this particular restaurant is closed 3-4 days a week during the slow season (while we were there).
But as I mentioned the staff was great. When our mains were taking longer than usual, they came over and apologized and offered us an additional course to have while we waited, a very nice gesture. They welcomed us so joyfully when we arrived too. Many of the staff work in multiple locations it seemed so even though it was our one and only visit here there were those that had already encountered us and welcomed us enthusiastically. And made sure we were ok at the table we chose after some families with kids came and sat near us. They also surprised us with a dessert at the end helping us celebrate our anniversary, so nice.
Overall, enjoyed our experience, just felt like some of the food was a little hit or miss. This was the restaurant I was most excited to try but the meal I ended up liking the least but since they were closed so much during our visit (and never open for lunch) we didn’t get a chance to go back. I’m sure if we had it would’ve...
Read moreVery authentic Japanese sushi. Fresh seafood (tuna , crab..etc) Dynamite rolls and spicy tuna rolls are amazing.
Our server Ali offered us one of the best experience. He is very attentive and takes great care with our allergies and dislike items.
Wagyu steak is amazing. My American partner likes it medium rare. He said it was very quality meat, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. So it is up to high American standards.
We heard fishing jumping in our background and saw a few beautiful fish swimming by when we were dining. The outdoor patio was a truly amazing place.
This Japanese restaurant is better than any Japanese restaurant I have ever visited in San Francisco ( for sushi, dining environment and service) we would visit again in...
Read moreWe did the teppanyaki dinner to celebrate my wife's birthday and it turned out to be a private session with only the both of us. Chef Agus was very friendly and interactive throughout the dinner and all the courses were amazing! The highlight was the Flambé Hamachi which we both loved.
My wife doesn't like chocolaty desserts and they were kind enough to let us swap it out with other options available on the menu. Towards the end of the dinner, Choris and her team surprised us by bringing out the dessert with a candle while singing the happy birthday song and a card signed by all the staff!
Good good, 5 star service, highly...
