Wifey and I stopped here while looking for the Melting Pot shown on Google Maps. Firstly, the roundabout shown no longer exists. The road simply stops. On site there are paddle board courts, a gym and tucked away round to the right at the back is what was the Melting Pot but is now the Pembroke AFC clubhouse supporting the local football team and behind it is the astro turf soccer pitch.
Firstly, it's not as polished as the pictures show. The main building is a long, narrow room ahead of you as you enter from the door. There is a small bar to the left, then tables along the right wall. At the end of the room is a covered patio areas with tables along the left and a defunct kiosk/BBQ area on the left. There is then an open area that has a view of the pitch and sea. It's all rather higgledy-piggledy.
We sat in this area as several of the tables had family groups of locals having their Sunday lunches and the spreads were impressive and the food did look very good, but we only had drinks.
The waitress clearly didn't understand much English which is strange as English is spoken almost as much as Maltese in Malta. The drinks were ok. Wifey had the standard pink gin and tonic, and it's difficult to get that wrong. I asked for a large latte, extra hot, and got the standard shot of coffee and luke warm frothy milk. Malta doesn't seem to understand extra hot.
Anyway I think trying the food would be worth a go if you're in that area but otherwise it's clearly a locals' hangout.
UPDATE,we returned on Friday evening to eat. The paddle ball courts were all busy as were the associated business but the restaurant was dead and it had been open for over 90 minutes so we...
Read moreIt's not a fondue restaurant anymore. They claim to have the best rabbit on the island but we were not able to try it because that evening due to some technical issues the cooking of rabbit was very long and we couldn't wait for such a time. The staff was friendly and helpful but apologizing non stop for not having this and that. We had pastas: they were ok but very large portions: a lot of pasta base and little sauce compared to the amount of pasta so we had to leave a lot of pasta after. But the seaview is stunning, and not crowded. One could be bothered by people playing sports on nearby courts but we weren't. Also noticed a big cockroach but we were sitting on a terrace do hopefully it was from outside and not from...
