I am very sad and disappointed to say that Bianco's is nowhere near what it used to be.
I am sad because after leaving Malta, this was the regular place to go to for all my family when we met in Malta. For 20 years we have had birthday parties and other special occasions there, treated visitors and it was always our good place to go to when we wanted a good meal. And on top of that it was the friendly service. We always felt welcome and special.
After last year, we thought we would give it one more try. It now just feels like any tourist trap restaurant that is happy with churning out the meals and getting tables filled. In all the time we were eating, not one person came to check on us. Not even to ask if we wanted another drink. We weren't offered dessert or coffee. It sounds petty, but it's a sign of how the priorities of the restaurant have changed.
And the quality of the food is also very average, nothing like the quality it used to be. The pizzas are still good but, for example, I had the beef salad and the waiter let me know that the beef is normally served medium. I said I was happy with that. What I got was meat so burnt and dry, with no pink at all in it, that I can't even imagine what "well done" would look like.
I wouldn't bother writing a review about any restaurant but I feel compelled because Bianco's was such a special place for our family over the years. Now it has just become another business that is happy...
Read moreWe’re glad we kept walking until we found this hidden gem in Malta! We started by sharing a margherita pizza, and while we didn’t have high expectations, it turned out to be surprisingly delicious with its lively charred crust from the stone coal oven. For the main course, we both ordered the catch of the day—though we weren't sure exactly what type of fish it was, it tasted incredibly fresh and was perfectly cooked. The baked potatoes that came with it were a bit too soft for my taste, but still flavorful.
We also shared a fresh salad, and I loved that they listened to my request to keep it simple without any special dressing. They provided extra limes, olive oil, salt, and pepper, so I could dress it to my liking—a thoughtful touch that made the meal even more enjoyable. To finish, we shared a tiramisu served in a cup; while it wasn't the traditional Italian style, it was still a nice way to end the meal.
The service was excellent; our waitress was attentive, friendly, and efficient. The restaurant itself was clean and had a pleasant atmosphere, though it was a bit warm inside. Overall, it was a great find, and I’m already considering coming...
Read moreWe noticed this cosy little restaurant after arriving to St Julian’s. It is also recommended in the Bradt guide to Malta & Gozo. We ordered our food. I had the sea bass roast potatoes and fresh vegetables and my husband had the Garganelli Maltese (Maltese sausage pan fried with butter, onions, garlic and cherry tomatoes topped with crispy kale) and just a few minutes in we were simply blown away. My fish was cooked to perfection. The staff are so friendly and happy especially Daryna and the smiley Maria. We were so delighted we went back the very next night and I went off piste from the menu and asked for a pappardelle with chicken cream onion garlic and topped with crispy kale. The chef happily obliged. My husband devoured the pizza rosso smothered with black olives, ham, egg, onion. Tomato, cheese etc. We couldn’t leave without trying the delicious tiramasu. And it was 5 star all round. Don’t miss this little gem when visiting Malta. Debbie and Patrick...
