Hugo's Terrace & Rooftop — Restaurant in Saint Julian's

First of it is not a rooftop, what they call a rooftop was closed and it’s only a terrasse but even if it was open I would not call it rooftop! Our mistake we should have looked better. They sat us (family with two kid/ado) under a speaker and we could barely ear each other because of the loud music. I ordered a side sauce for the fries that came 1h later once I basically I finished my food and as I got tired asking for it, not getting any response, apologize or clue if it was coming or not … My wife salad was tasteless. The burgers not gourmet at all but just basic, not bad either juste basic so overpriced and the fries tasteless. It’s basically another one of those places that attracted touriste with a nice deco, good looking (but tasteless) drinks/cocktails, they use cheap ingredients and make it all look nice. The staff barely understand what you are asking when you order because, like in a lot of maltes beach restaurant you are served by some nice Indians guys that don’t speak well English, and likely paid very poorly by the owners as most of them comes from working in Dubai. The goal of those kind of place is obvious, making as much as possible in the summer period while spending as little possible but making it look nice on pictures. Being honest this is not a bad place just don’t get your hope to high and be patient (mine as limit!) and I can only imagine the place to be lot worst regarding service and food while in full summer season… I would advise the owner to get a real manager that care about his customers and staff , not call the place a rooftop, and train his staff better as they are obviously not trained in European services but pretend to be other then the bartenders… It could really be a great place once few things done...

I’ve been living in Malta for almost a year and love to visit new places , and leave reviews. Yesterday went to paceville, for some drink and see how people party nowdays. Never really been a fan of loud places , clubs and especially party streets. Went a few time back and forth throught the street to find a nice place to just chill. Everywhere we went was just super loud and the drinks we had had barely any alcohol and just watered down with ice. After two drinks , we still wanted to continue our night with my boyfriend and right outside paceville there’s Hugo’s Terrace. I saw a lot of seats were reserved so I wasn’t sure that we would be able to stay there . But luckily one of the hostess found us a place on the rooftop with a beautiful sea view and right next to a bar . Santoshi the hostess was really nice and guided us to our seats and offered to change them to a closer place next to balcony . Was kind enough to check up on us which I don’t really see hotness do that, only waiters. The atmosphere and asthetic was really modern and vibe . The place had its own DJ who played good music. We only had drinks and they tasted good , could definitely feel the taste of alcohol in them , prices were actually reasonable. Looking forward to visit it the future and taste food too! In conclusion shoutout to one of the nicest hostess I’ve ever met Santoshi, she is doing a really good job making people feel welcomed there !💕If you wanna spend your evening in a party life area , that’s more elegant and peaceful this is...

We actually ate here twice, for lunch at the first day cause we got a coupon for 10% off if we took at least one menu from our hotel. Since it shared the same name as the hotel, we first thought it would surely be pricey and not actually that special, but we were definitely mistaken (We were staying at Hugo's boutique hotel).

The food is really good and well made, the staff is nice and really quick, doesn't matter if you are almost alone in the restaurant (our lunch) or the whole place is packed (our dinner). They are always up and about to make sure you have a nice and comfortable stay.

So yeah, we went a second time for dinner as mentioned and had Prakash as our waiter. Hello to you and thanks again for the great service!

We both ordered burgers, the Back to Basic and the The Lard Arise, both very good! Also the fries you get are really nice. We also after had the Hugo's coconut delight as dessert and boy was that good! Can only recommend it to everyone.

After we had some drinks, mainly non-alcoholic ones, which they do offer certain cocktails without alcohol, which was a nice option. They still tasted very good.
