The interior and atmosphere were absolutely lovely, and the service was a definite plus (though we did have to work a bit to get their attention at times, even with the restaurant nearly empty). We enjoyed the food - both what we ordered and what we picked from the sushi belt. However, the quality isn’t exactly top-tier, especially if you’ve been spoiled by sushi spots in Japan (🥲). One tip: if you arrive earlier in the evening, the sushi belt might look a little sparse. We went around 4-5 pm, and by the time we were full and ready to leave, it was noticeably more stocked with tempting options. Also to note! Way too many bites got cream cheese in them 🐮

If you’re a true sushi lover in Malta, Sako Sushi in Spinola Bay, St. Julian’s is an absolute must! Having lived in Malta for a year, I can confidently say this is the island's No. 1 spot for sushi. The concept is brilliant – with sushi gliding past on belts, it creates a fun and dynamic dining experience while keeping the focus on what truly matters: mind-blowing food. Every plate is a masterpiece, crafted by exceptionally skilled sushi masters whose precision and artistry shine through every bite. The freshness, creativity, and attention to detail make each visit unforgettable. Highly recommended – this is sushi perfection in Malta!!!

Went to Sako Sushi in St.Julians recently. It’s one of those places where the sushi comes around on a conveyor belt and you just grab whatever looks good. I think it’s called a kaiten sushi or something like that. Each plate usually has three pieces, and the colour of the plate tells you the price. They’re mostly between €3 and €5. You can see the prices on the menu, so no surprises there. Honestly, I liked the vibe. The sushi was tasty, nothing mind-blowing, but fresh enough and enjoyable. It’s a chill spot if you’re craving sushi without making a big deal out of it. I’d go again.

We felt like sushi. We have those feelings sometimes. And this day, this evening - we had decided to spend our last hard-earned cash on som colorful plates of raw fish.

We were met by a smiling waiter and asked wether we would like to have food or sushi.. As the answer was given we were placed next to a long belt of a neverending row of colored plates. This was my first food-on-a-belt experience hence the reason to why we decided to have a beer to the meal. Getting hold of the previously smiling waiter was however no easy task, as he seemed busy with more important people. No harm done, we had a lot of fun picking out the different plates. Sadly, in order to stay within our budget there was no way we could try out any of the black plates. But they looked amazing.

Over all we ate what we paid for and got away from there with a bill of three semi-hungry men including three beers for less than €45.. We did discuss how it would be a lot of fun if the chefs would vary up and be a little more artistic with the menu Thankfully they had free wasabi and pickled ginger to clean our pallets in between some...
