Sooo disappointed yesterday. Six of us were celebrating a birthday with supper at the Waterbiscuit and a movie. We booked both venues. Without going into detail, the service at Waterbiscuit was unapolgetically slow and bad; the excuse was that they were short staffed and had just experienced an unusual influx of business, is it possible that they could not draw additional serving staff from other parts of the Intercontinental complex?
The movie was at one of the theaters in the Eden complex that forms part of the same group. Unapolgetically again, we were advised that the lift was out of service "because it is being refurbished". So there. There was no sign of work activity on the lift as we climbed the not so comfortable stairs to the third floor. Two members of our party have breathing problems. I would have expected an alternative "emergency" lift in the building and for work to be planned and executed on a 24/7 basis. So much for access to all policies.
The last straw came at the Eden car park. We discovered that we could only avail our selves of one of the discounts offered by the Waterbiscuit and the Eden cinemas but not both. As if one can eat at the Waterbiscuit and watch a movie at the same time!
I hope that the Eden / Intercontinental group management will identify and address the underlying discourteous and impudent attitudes within the group.
The hero of the night was the car park attendant who understood the ridiculouness of the no back-to-back discounts policy and used his discrcretion resolve the...
Read moreWaterbiscuit is the most surprising section of the intercontinental hotel where with less resources they obtain better results. Thanks to being located in a central area of entertainment the street becomes a catwalk of very different and very busy people where it is difficult to get bored. The division with the glass screens is a success both in terms of temperature and noise reduction. The first thing that surprises is the number of executives who frequent it, perhaps due to their situation within the city and the quality of the service. The second thing that strikes me is that wide staircase through which the service moves quickly. This staircase also provides great privacy. The service is exquisite, where if they take into account and solve those problems of food allergies and intolerances of customers. Where your sommelier knows and applies the importance of white wines and champagnes served cold where you know the importance of a good ice bucket. And to top off the meal or the day it is imperative that Don Vicente prepare a Gin Tonic " of P. Mother "of course in your glass and you can dive the next day. Except in the pool and other dangerous places I do not understand the use of...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Waterbiscuit Restaurant at the InterContinental Hotel in Malta, and overall, it was a very enjoyable experience. The food was of high quality, beautifully presented, and flavorful. I highly recommend the beef cheeks—they were tender, rich, and cooked to perfection. The rib eye steak was also excellent, cooked exactly to my liking with a great char and juicy interior.
One interesting aspect was the beef tartare, which was presented in a make-it-yourself style. The ingredients were served on the side, and we had to mix everything together ourselves. It was a fun and interactive way to enjoy the dish, though it might not be for everyone.
The service was attentive and professional, making us feel well taken care of throughout the evening. I also tried the French Brest for dessert, but I found it to be a bit too sweet for my taste.
The only minor downside was the portion sizes; I found the main courses to be slightly on the small side, especially considering the price. I was expecting a bit more heft for the cost, but the overall quality of the food and the lovely ambiance made up for it.
Would definitely recommend for a special night...
