I recently visited Ammos Beach restaurant with high hopes of enjoying a delightful dining experience by the sea. However, my overall experience left much to be desired. While the location and ambiance were pleasant, the restaurant fell short in several crucial aspects, resulting in a disappointing evening.
Upon arrival, the welcoming was decent, and we were promptly seated at a nice table for two overlooking the sea. The initial impression was positive, but unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse as the evening progressed. The first issue arose when the waiter took our cocktail order but forgot to punch in one of them. This was a minor oversight, but it set the tone for the rest of the evening.
To my surprise, there was no salt or pepper on the table, which is a basic expectation at any restaurant. It's a small detail, but it shows a lack of attention to detail and preparation. The starters were satisfactory, but they didn't stand out as anything extraordinary.
The main course arrived, but there were no cutlery or serving spoon for the side dishes. We had to wait for almost 10 minutes and eventually go to the bar to request them. Even after this delay, the table was still devoid of salt, pepper, and seasoning for the side dishes. Furthermore, my sirloin steak lacked any accompanying sauce or decoration, making it a plain, unremarkable dish with just a drizzle of olive oil. My girlfriend's grilled pork, although flavorful with the addition of fresh peach, was also unexceptional.
Throughout the evening, no staff member came to check on our table or inquire about our satisfaction with the food and service. This was particularly disappointing considering they had forgotten to provide us with cutlery initially. It seemed as though there was a lack of attention and care from the staff.
As we finished our meal, no one came to clear our table. We eventually had to get up and directly request the bill at the bar, with our half-eaten main course still on the table. It was at this point that the person at the bar asked if everything was okay. I took the opportunity to express my dissatisfaction, detailing the various issues we had encountered. Unfortunately, his response of "I know what you mean" was far from satisfactory and reflected a lack of accountability.
To add to the disappointment, the bill amounted to €94 for a garlic bread, scamoza croquettes, a sirloin steak, a pork steak, two cocktails, and a bottle of water. Considering the lackluster experience we had, this felt like an excessive price to pay.
Overall, my visit to Ammos Beach left me with a negative impression. The restaurant showcased poor professionalism both in the kitchen and on the floor. The lack of attention to detail, forgetfulness, and absence of basic amenities such as salt and pepper, coupled with the inadequate response to our concerns, make it unlikely that I will return...
Read moreThis was our last lunch in Malta and we were so excited to eat some fish, the place seemed really nice and cool but after we ate a really good calamari starter the problems begun. We all ordered pasta and one of us needed to order a gluten free version of the linguine allo scoglio: when the plate arrived there weren’t any linguine but penne and nobody told that to the girl involved while ordering. They didn’t make us pay for the risotto she chose after but charged us for the gluten free extra price anyway. Then to another girl arrived her linguine prawn and zucchini full of onion: she is allergic to it and that wasn’t mentioned on the menu. But the most annoying thing was the behaviour of the waiter: we asked very nicely for a solution or even just an apology for the problems that overcame but she answered in a very unpolitely and rude way and wasn’t sorry at all for all the mistakes made; my friends even cried. In the end, the pasta in general wasn’t good enough for almost everyone of...
