I'm reluctant to leave negative comments having owned and run my own restaurant for many years but I'm hoping feedback will be taken constructively and help to improve customer service. My 3rd visit this week and the previous 2 visits where takeaways and the pastries and home made cakes are very good. My 3rd visit we suffered very poor table service where we waited 40 minutes for breakfasts. Noticing later arriving customers had been served their food we asked the waitress on 2 occasions how long it would be and we're advised it was on its way. Eventually I had to talk to the man operating the till and it seems there was a technical problem with electronic order system from the till to the kitchen. Our breakfasts arrived 5 minutes after, standard practice for breakfasts is to have sausage, bacon, beans precooked in warmers so only needing eggs and toast cooked to order. So where can this be improved? I trained all my staff to notice if customers had cutlery, finished drinks but no food. All my staff were trained to report to kitchen if food was missing or seemed to be running late. I would instruct front of house to offer another free beverage if food was late. The cafe was really busy and you can see it’s very popular. We have ordered English breakfast and Nordic Benedict muffins. We asked if the tomatoes in English breakfast can be changed to something else, they said yes but they haven’t mentioned that we will be charged extra for it (£1.50). Eggs and hollandaise sauce were cold but overall was good. Breakfast was filling and portion size good for the price. We ordered drinks tea, cafe latte and orange juice. The coffee was more like drinking just warm milk. The total bill came to £37.50 for 3 people, it didn’t seem right. I checked the bill and I was overcharged by £6. The menu prices: English breakfast £8, 2x Nordic Benedict £8.50, coffee £2.50 and juice £4. I returned to the cafe and said that I have been overcharged, they said that they have changed menu for the afternoon - it was 11 o’clock. At the end they apologised and refunded £4. I didn’t noticed at that time they charged me £0.50 extra for an English breakfast and of course they charged us for the egg that was swapy for the tomatoes. Please check your receipt before you...
