We arrived on Tuesday 4th of August 8pm in the evening. No one meet us by the entrance so we just went in then waiter pointed to an empty table so went and sat down. After a few minutes waitress came to our table, she was very friendly and funny. We ordered 2 cisk draft, but they didn't have any draft, so she offered cans instead. After a few minutes we got our beers and she asked about food, but we were not sure, so she gave us a few more minutes. After 15 minutes she finally returned and my boyfriend ordered classic burger and I ordered seafood pizza. After that we were waiting and waiting and waiting, no one came to us, to ask if we need more drinks or to tell us how long we wil have to wait. Finally after an hour of waiting and seeing people who came after us getting their food I lost my patience and went to ask how long we still need to wait. Waiter told me that they are very busy and chef is working on his own. I returned to my table and funny enough food turned up in a few minutes. But it was disappointment.. definitely not worth such a long wait. My boyfriend's burger was overcooked and he felt like he is eating chunk of charcoal in a bun and my pizza was.. well I found the whole onion grated on it and so many toppings that it wasn't possible to eat it, I would pick a piece and mountain on toppings would fall out dragging everything with them. Base tasted like a hard piece of bread too. They only star is for the price, but I guess it matches the quality....
Read moreAfter a lovely time at the aquarium my son and I stopped for lunch at the Sea Side Kiosk. My son ordered pasta and I ordered arancini. The pasta was ok, of course not great but my arancini was not fit for animal consumption. Took one bite of the old instant rice disaster and could not touch it again. Sadly I didn’t take a photo. I am however an Italian Chef so here is what was presented to me. One giant wet blob of instant rice filled with fake cheese and something that resembled ham, all wrapped poorly in some type of fried something. I have never seen anything quite like it in all my years of travel or cooking. We left to pay the bill and our lovely (female) server tried her best to have this “thing” taken off our bill but management refused. I realize this is not a real restaurant however no matter the size of an establishment the passion and quality of both food and service is mandatory in this business to survive. Seems they only live off one shot guest because no normal human would go back for a second dose of...
Read moreI visit here each time I come over, it's a great little cafe bar out on the point with great views, a relaxed terrace with plenty of seating. This time round I had the Penn Trapanese which contains tomato, mushrooms, bacon, onion and spinach plus I requested a side salad and some Maltese Sausage. Service was excellent and my off menu request met with no problem at all.
All I can say is that the quality of the pasta dish and plentiful side salad was nothing short of magnificent! Easily enough for two people (I have a big appetite so you can image how pleased I was!), beautifully flavoured pasta dish, fresh crispy salad with olives and two large moist tasty Maltese sausages (I cut these up and added them to the pasta).
The best bit: all that amazing plentiful food and brilliant service came to €15! Yep, try getting that at home! Absolutely first class place to eat when out and about in the bay, you...
