Tava Terrace — Restaurant in Saint Paul's Bay

We tried to book online, and there were no tables available - so we aimed to try a walk in hoping they may squeeze us in. Thankfully they had a lot spare tables! Maybe a little downside from the online booking, in that people can so easily book and not turn up. Maybe something they could look into. Onto our experience. Friendly staff welcomed us, the front of house chap was excellent with great humour and kindness. We were given complimentary Turkish breads and dips, wow. What a start. The smaller bread was deliciously stretchy and scummy! Limited wine glass choices, but the white house was delicious and went down great. We had the Turkish dalma starter which was fantastic! We went on to have the lamb chops and the chicken breast. Both were gorgeous - juicy meat with lovely Turkish sides. Slightly too much for us the team bagged up our leftovers. Which have since been devoured. You're a little sat next to a main road, with a fairly busy pavement running through the outside seating area, but that's completely unavoidable for the restaurant. We booked the place so to treat my visiting parents to a nice dinner. We were recommended the place through our friends in Malta. The food was pretty good 👍, so was the tasty decor of the place. However the service and light hair waiter that was serving us need to probably go through some extensive training on how to treat customers and make them feel welcome. He did none of this. Every time he came he made us feel as if he is making us a favor. Rather arrogant and cold. We had to wait a very long time to have plates cleaned from the table and very long time to wait for him to attend to us so we could order extra drinks and desserts. We were sitting with empty places and glasses for a long time and felt rather neglected. After finally attending ( place wasn’t full), we had to wait another 20-30 min for dessert to come. Baklava that could have been brought in few min…if anybody cares that is. That was final for our patience. Asked the bill and left. We were around the world in all sorts of places, Tava despite good food isn’t a place to recommend for a positive experience due to a very poor service. Stay away from light hair male...

Steak was cooked nicely, settling is also nice, but that's about it! Even though cooked nicely, my tenderloin was sliced into 4 before cooking, would've preferred to keep it whole. Then the sides, they were really bad. Side salad was just roughly chopped iceberg lettuce and halved cherry tomatoes, a 5 year old could've made it. Pepper sauce was clearly lazily heated in it's serving pot, and not even stirred after, as all round the sides clearly burnt. The sauce wasn't nice, very gelatinous. My 'roast' potatoes were cold in the middle, I had to send it back to be warmed, and got exactly the same potato back. It wasn't even a roast potato, but rather a large boiled potato with the skin left on and cut in half, never saw an oven. At no point was I asked how my food was, or even checked upon, even after complaining my potato was cold!! Only after I paid. I gave feedback to the girl clearing my plates away, which obviously wasn't passed on to anyone. As a fellow business owner in the area I am dismayed to pay that amount for a meal and so much of it to be found wanting. Won't return and...
