We had dinner at The Brothers Restaurant. Good food at a fair price! However, i'ts very bad that they charge dinner guests an additional fee for beer bottles (deposit???) that never leaves the table and naturally are returned to the restaurant after the dinner. Extremely unprofessional and greedy! I feel sorry for a restaurant with such a bad financial situation that they need to act like that.
We questioned the restaurant's actions of charging diners the additional fee for bottles. However, the owner insisted that the restaurant is affected by the cost and therefore the diners must also pay. We spent more than two weeks in Malta and had dinner at different restaurants every night. Better yet, The Brothers was the only place where they charged the cost of the bottles extra on the bill. Despite the restaurant's pathetic actions, but above all considering the restaurant's obvious need for financial support, we left a substantial tip that should cover many subsequent guests' costs for bottles.
PS. Some time after our dinner at The Brothers Restaurant, we found out that the restaurant's actions were in clear violation of articles 15(7) and 15(8) of the beverage containers recycling regulation (S.L. 549.134). These state that "catering undertakings shall only re-claim the value of the deposit from the consumer where the consumer removes the beverage container away from the catering establishment". The legislation adds: "Catering undertakings shall not charge the amount of the deposit to the consumer who consumes the beverage at the catering establishment and leaves the beverage container at the catering establishment, but shall be entitled to claim the value of the deposit." The owners of the restaurant were obviously either ignorant of Maltese legislation or had made a conscious decision not to comply with it. Regardless, it unfortunately reveals very clearly who the owners of this...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant after reading the great reviews, and I can now confirm, it truly is a special place where tradition takes center stage. A must-visit for meat lovers, it offers generous portions and a very extensive menu. We started with the sheep cheese and mixed pita, which was served warm with shredded cheese on top, absolutely delicious. Then we shared the grill platter for two, but honestly, it could feed more! It included chicken hearts, gizzards, and liver cooked with onions and mushrooms, along with a fresh salad. A friend of ours also tried the sausage and bean soup, which was full of flavor. Everything was beautifully presented on traditional plates. We sat outside and enjoyed the lovely atmosphere, but the interior is warm and cozy definitely a spot to revisit in winter. The service was excellent, our server was always available, very helpful with the menu, and guided us on portion sizes. I highly recommend this place if you want an authentic taste of Bulgaria! The prices are very affordable compared with...
Read moreGreat restaurant, the one waiter handles it all well on his own, the food is good price and the portions are large! We had a meat platter which was supposed to be for 2 but would easily feed 4. The interior is wonderful, great care has been taken to ensure there is a traditional vibe, it had me looking at flights to Bulgaria!
Its difficult to find restaurants with character and decent cuisine in Bugibba. Many of the ham sandwich and chips “restaurants” are getting an undeserved 5 star google review from people. So we are very pleased to...
