Trattoria de baba — Restaurant in Saint Paul's Bay

Really hoped for better when I visited this restaurant. Started off OK ordered the Antipasti to share after a while it arrived and the portion size was good and the cheese especially tasted well. Sadly it went downhill from there,we ordered two pizza and after nearly 45 minutes they finally arrived.They really didn't look that great the tomato sauce was the wrong colour and upon tasting them it was clear they didn't taste like an Italian pizza should almost undercooked and very chewy. My wife who's Italian only eat one slice before refusing to eat anymore.We raised the issue with the waiter who really didn't seem to care. We asked for the bill and they asked for a tip, after I asked twice for a glass of house wine before the pizza arrived and never receiving it I declined it. This is such a little gem of a restaurant. We went the first time and had the rabbit and the wild boar ravioli. Even though the rabbit was amazing, I had serious food envy over the ravioli as it tasted so good, so we went back a few days later and we both ordered the ravioli. The BEST ravioli I have ever eaten. So much flavour in every bite. Absolute perfection. Will likely go again before our holiday is over. Service is friendly and helpful.

I do not recommend because of the explanations received from the owner and from the chef - I received a portion of prawns with rice, very tasty, but unfortunately probably unwashed well - as if I ate sand. Moreover, on one of them the sand could be seen towards the tail. The explanation was that some herbs are used and they are probably crunchy. Believe me, I ate sand - half of the portion remained untouched. As a positive feedback I can say about the amability of the waiters. Unfortunatelly this is bot enough when they don't assume when a customer tells them something is wrong.
