We tried this restaurant for lunch, enticed by the promise of the chef's special chicken dish and a side of calamari. Unfortunately, the experience did not quite meet our expectations.

The calamari and accompanying vegetables were noticeably undercooked, lacking the delightful tenderness one anticipates from such a dish. The chicken tagine, while cooked to perfection, was overwhelmed by an excess of spices that masked the natural flavors of the ingredients. Additionally, the inclusion of dates in the dish introduced an unconventional sweetness that, in our opinion, did not complement the overall taste profile.

On a positive note, the staff were friendly and helpful, which greatly enhanced our dining experience. The interior design of the restaurant was also noteworthy, boasting an ambiance that was both inviting and aesthetically pleasing.

When considering the quality of the food against the price, we found the value to be reasonable. However, the culinary execution left room for improvement. We hope that our feedback will be taken as constructive criticism, aiding the restaurant in refining its dishes to achieve the high standard that the charming staff and beautiful decor so...

What the hell did I just witness?! Saturday evening, moderately busy. We were told there are Arancini (Rice balls) - their size is even smaller than a squash ball. If you had to ask me, the size of a mans' private parts, and their price? 8 EURO!!! Then I had the Mussels, which were actually decent, but the broth was somewhat salty, no bread to take with the broth. My friends took chicken, which was overwhelmingly powerful with cinnamon which they did not know it had, could have been their fault though. Additionally, the restaurant is cramped, seats aren't so comfortable, air was hot, bread was not included - you'd have to shamefully ask for it (not supposed to be a thing in a MALTESE TYPE restaurant, and they give you 2 slices). Some dishes were mediocre - taste and size. Other dishes are a shame and a complete waste of money. Will never go again, extremely disappointed and frustrated. There are 20x better Maltese restaurants around the country at cheaper prices and better...

We were not allowed to stay inside the empty restaurant for coffee because we had no reservation. We'd been before for coffee without reservations, and I've never made a reservation anywhere solely for coffee, but perhaps this is something new.

Instead, we were told that we could only sit outside. Sitting outside means being exposed to the elements as there is just one umbrella which covers one of the tables, leaving the rest of the tables exposed. Additionally, the outside seating is not located on a flat surface, meaning that it's not comfortable to sit there.

Despite the service being slow, by the time we paid our bill the place was still empty. Perhaps they did not want to loan the inside tables out before lunch (as I assume the tables were booked for lunch time), but it may have been more sensible to allow people to sit inside for a specified time rather than turning them away unless they...

We visited Marilu's for an evening dinner on their rooftop terrace and we absolutely loved it. The entire restaurant/converted townhouse has been lovingly restored and everything in it has obviously been very carefully curated and selected. The ambience immediately greets you and the decor is great too. The rooftop is a very chill area with great views. The menu is based on a food-sharing concept and we tried out several dishes - all very simple but very tasty and satisfying all the same. Portion sizes may vary between dishes but prices are reasonable overall. Service is good too, and all the staff are very attentive. Truly recommend if you're looking for an honest, authentic Maltese food experience - we really loved it!

We saw this in a YouTube video about Malta and just had to give it a try after researching it further on Instagram! The concept they go by here is ordering several dishes and sharing them, and as far as I understood, they change the menu quite often. We ordered four dishes, including some chicken with herbs, pepper beef and some local veggies roasted with cheddar cheese. They all tasted very nice and fresh, maybe the veggies were a bit too oily for our taste. 😅 We ended with a lemon posset, which was great, and a coffee pannacotta, which was very intense. If you go there, definitely try to get a table on the rooftop, it has a beautiful view over the church and main square of the village!
