味央 WEI YANG — Restaurant in Isle Mauritius

Food: Wide variety of food with some dishes which I personally have not found in other restaurants in Mauritius. All dishes are well balanced in flavour, not too salty but filled with aroma. Would highly recommend the dumpling which is filled with either porc or chicken and uses crushed sichuan pepper corn. One shaanxi noodles portion is enough to feed 3-4 people when accompanied with other dishes. For dessert the fried pumpking topped with salted egg yolk is a MUST HAVE(You will not be able to find this everywhere). However, I would not recommend the fried calamari, while it melts in the mouth, its more akeen to gajak as it is served with sweet chilli sauce and by itself is pretty much tasteless.

Service: The staff is very friendly, no neg here.

Ambiance: The restaurant being a tad small, you will hear your noisy neightbours, but nothing to deter you...

Went there for dinner last night, it was quiet and it felt more like eating inside a house than a restaurant. The waiter from Madagascar was really nice to us and he suggested the special dishes which the place is known for. We took sizzling baby octopus, the deep fried bringal, chicken as starter and fried noodles. While the bringal was quite nice and different (maybe you won't get it anywhere else in Mauritius), the other dishes were quite plain.
