This restaurant came highly recommended but I have to say that I was disappointed.

The welcome we initially received was not welcoming. The whole place has a very dark and oppressive feel about it.

Even though it wasn't busy, we were not given a choice of tables to sit at. Instead we were given one right in the middle, so we sat like goldfish. With just one napkin between the three of us and no salt/pepper.

The menu is so confusing and unclear. No aromatic duck and no rice choices. No prawn crackers...maybe I was expecting too much. Rice was available, but not shown.

No chicken and sweet corn soup, so I had chicken soup, which was just about ok, but far too oily for my liking. The girls enjoyed their seafood soup though. The sizzling beef was tasty and the huge bowl full of fried rice was delicious.....but why so much? Enough for at least two.

The coffee (cappuccino) was the best I've tasted here in Mauritius.

There were a lot of staff that didn't seem to do much. We were totally ignored by a couple of them....I supposed because we weren't in 'their' area. Another was being overly attentive to the table behind me. I hated him just standing behind me, breathing down my neck. He and another sat at a table for a chat. I didn't understand that, as there is always something to do in restaurants. Like checking tables have condiments and napkins on them, for example. Once that's done, then go behind the scenes and chat, but not in front of customers. It just gave me the impression that they didn't want to be there and they didn't want us there either.

Overall I thought the meal was expensive. I've been to many many Chinese restaurants in the world, mainly in the U.K. and have had much better service, better tasting and choice of food and a sincere desire for us to return....for a...

Food: 2/5 Service: 2/5 Atmosphere: 3/5 Deco: 4/5 Price: Expensive

If you are looking for a 2-3 star simple resto, this is the place to go Careful of inaccurate location posted on google maps, for those looking to go there, it is in the same building as Queens Club, 1st floor, opposite of the large parking

Went there with my fiancée for the 1st time, we requested for a cozy spot upon reservation but in vain Once there we requested to change place to the sofa spot but they told us that since we were only two they cannot do it as there are too many people After some minutes, we saw a couple taking the same space we requested, shockingly

Waiters can do much better in terms of service

What's more funny is that we received our starters and main course together, and the waiter was so quick without uttering a single word that we did not have the time to react We caught some lady waiter in charge there, and she explained to us that they have a lack of waiter so better take the main course now, because if we want it at a later time, we would have to wait for a long amount of time, and that she would not be sure if we could actually get food. I never heard something that stupid in my whole life lol.

Food not up to the price proposed, small portions noted, and too oily that we could not finish it, even with small amounts obtained

We even saw a baby cockroach on our table*

The waiters seem to be so exhausted that they lost their smile Had to wait at least 10-15min for the bill

The lady at the reception only knows how to take your payment, but no thank you have a nice evening etc, cheap attitude

Nice deco but no music, you could hear customers putting their own music -This resto have a big potential to be one of the best, should they be willing to put in the necessary effort

Will not...

Been back to King Dragon Restaurant after some 8 years with my family and we absolutely loved it. The food was exquisite. From the seafood, to the fresh fish to the chicken and if we still had much space in our stomachs we would have tried almost everything on the menu. The food appeared very fresh. The flesh very soft. Savoury and tasty. We were not disappointed. We salute the Chef en cuisine. The service was on point. The customer service staff were friendly, cordial and helpful. Mrs 'M' as denoted by the alphabet on her ring was our designated waitress. She showed some fine skills in deboning the fish. Their wine was great (A Bordeaux Beau-Rivage 2022). The atmosphere remained same as from years ago. The same walls and the same lightings. A place stuck in the corridors of time; Timeless and classic. The music started with a something slow and we heard some very modern pop music that would appeal to young people. It was a good dinner. I would recommend the place to anyone. It is a 10 for me. It has...

This place holds a special corner in my heart! It's a consistent winner, with only minor hiccups that barely register. Right now, I would stay clear of the fritters (Calamar Croustillant, poulet fondant etc – they're not at their best. But trust me, the real stars of the show are waiting for you: the Boeuf Sauté oignons piments, a symphony of beef, onions, and green chillis ; the Poisson filet beurre d’ail, delicate fish fillets bathed in heavenly garlic butter; the Bréde sauté, a flavorful explosion of leafy greens; the Poulet paprika, irresistibly seasoned with paprika; and the Satini pomme d’amour, the perfect comforting side. These dishes are legendary, and for good reason. While their fried rice and noodles are solid options, they don't quite reach the same level of brilliance. The service is always top-notch, with incredibly helpful staff guiding you through the menu with ease. Don't hesitate, this place is a true gem!

The seafood at this restaurant is fantastic. They pride themselves on serving only the freshest of food. I recommend, the spring rolls, crispy calamari, fish in black bean sauce, crayfish and off course the crab. To top it all off we ended the meal with tapioca pearls and ice cream which we were lucky enough to try as it is almost always sold out. The restaurant is located on a busy little street and offers a comfortable dining experience. We were greeted by the friendly staff who welcomed us and ensured that we were satisfied throughout the entire meal. This is the second time I've eaten at this restaurant and I'll definitely be back for more.

The only good thing that tasted fine was the starters only. We got it also pretty quick as there was not many people during the peak hour. We didn't order the crispy calamari but it came anyway which wasn't a big issue for us. The main course was ok, not tasty as expected for a Chinese restaurant. The sizzling chicken came in hot looking very good however big dissapointment. The chunks of ginger was messing the taste a lot. Fried rice was tasteless now imagine tasteless fried rice with chicken ginger soy sauce. To top it off, Rs 425 for a 1.5L of coke? Now in my black list, not recommended.
