Just so you know, I have eaten many Indian meals on four continents and on my many trips to India. Sorry to be negative but this meal was really about the worst Indian I have eaten...truly. The restaurant is situated open to the shopping centre. Not the best but OK. After waiting over 20 minutes after our reservation time we ordered, the starters took 40 minutes to table and were not served together. They came one by one. The Chicken supposedly "cooked in Tandoor", never went near the Tandoor oven. See the photo of the lovely white boiled chicken with that awful sauce removed. We took most of this chicken home to further cook ourselves. The Lamb Shish Kebab was ground to a paste and utterly devoid of the slightest flavour. Why chef? Indian food is a joy for all the flavours and different spices...none were present here. The main of a chicken Madras was in fact chicken cooked in a tomato sauce. Yes, Madras has some tomato but not near to 100%. I mean this was too sweet and with only a tomato flavour. We left half of it. Madras curry is just one below a very spicy vindaloo. Our server was excellent and I think a bit embarrassed.

Bit hit and miss, dined there twice and first time was for lunch. We each had a soup and a starter, which given the generous portion sizes was enough to fill us up. The chicken soup and tomato soup were good but not great. The Gulnaar Seekh and Hara Bhara Kebab were particularly good with the cucumber raita and mint chutney and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Came back for supper and found everything I ordered under seasoned and bland šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø However, on both occasions the service was exceptional, well done to the floor manager and team šŸ‘

We finally had a meal at Sitar, Tamarin. We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken, Lamb Korma and a vegetarian eggplant curry with rice and naan. We didn’t have to wait long for the food, the service was great and our meals were delicious. Whilst there, there was some musical entertainment which we found a little on the loud side but it added to the ambiance. The chocolates with the bill were nice touch. All-in-all, it was a lovely evening.

We had lunch here on a Sunday after a quick grocery store run…and we are SO HAPPY we did! I am unsure where to start?…the food was amazing! So flavorful and adequately labeled as far as spice level. As a family, we all loved the mocktails/cocktails to the shrimp, to the lentil dishes to the naan! Not one thing was wrong or not delicious! We have been in a restaurant slump for a few weeks here in Mauritius, but this place revived us! The staff was so friendly (even wheeled our grocery cart in for us!). Our server was exceptional, even serving us our dishes and was very attentive! The bartender presented a wonderful white wine and the manager/front man was super accommodating and sincere! We are already planning our next grocery trip to include another meal here! Would highly recommend! Don’t let this place ā€œbeing in a mallā€ discourage you, it is top quality food and service! You will not be disappointed in...
