Efren's Restaurant Bar — Restaurant in Baja California Sur

All we needed was dinner. This was during a period of high wind, which seems to bring La Ribera to its knees the way a light frost does Mobile Alabama. We googled restaurant after restaurant and pulled up to find gates closed and women hiding behind curtains pretending not to see us. It was a Thursday. The thing about Efrens is we CALLED. SEVERAL TIMES. We kept reaching a fella who said "Yeah, we're open." So we kept going back and finding the gate literally tied shut with rope and women inside hiding behind the curtains. So we called AGAIN cause this place has a great reputation, right? Long story short we got a burger from a different restaurant, which appeared to be the only restaurant open in town. It was lovely. Should we ever be in La Ribera again we'll go there or buy tamales by the side...

DELICIOUS! Muy Rico! Nothing better than taking your fresh fish to Efren's when you want the best preparation. They made Ceviche and fried fish filets served with mango sauce out of the trigger fish. Then there was a pargo / red snapper / wajinango (not sure of whole fish preparation spelling) which was white, flacky, moist and not fishy. My husband's favorite yellowtail both blackened and grilled with a side of mojo de ajo and capers. All with a platter of mashed potatoes and fresh local perfectly seasoned veges. A couple we might suggested Efren's, they have visited the restaurant for multiple years and love it. The food was very good, not the cheapest you'll find in Baja, but for quality seafood and steak it's very reasonable by United States standards. The view from the second story restaurant is beautiful.

We went with the couple we met, two of us ordered the fish with white sauce, absolutely amazing; my wife ordered chicken in lime sauce which was also excellent; and our other friend ordered the fish tacos which were definitely a less expensive but equally tasty option.

Definitely a quality restaurant in La Ribera... And if you like pizza they also have an absolutely amazing pizza restaurant I...
