CHINA B B Q — Restaurant in Baja California

Tried this place on a whim, off my maps app, that showed it only six minutes away. So I get there and order some takeout because they don't have inside service. I ordered their super lonche and an order of Chun Kun (Mexican egg rolls--6pcs). The lonche was 210 pesos, and the Chun Kun was 60 pesos. My bag felt like it weighed 5 pounds! So I got home and opened the bag. The egg rolls were packaged apart, as they should be, and were hot and crispy. They need some veggies inside with the meat mixture, julienned carrots or some shredded cabbage would give them a big boost in texture and flavor tho. The plate lunch was big,...so much food that the box wouldn't stay closed. I ordered tempura shrimp (8 pcs), and chicken chop suey. It came with a gigantic portion of pork fried rice, which was fine, but was made with long grain rice, instead of sushi rice, so it was a little dry. The shrimps were coated with a thick tempura batter, was not a real tempura coating, I think it was just flour and water. And they overcooked the shrimp, they were dry and tough inside,...too bad! The chop suey was nothing special but okay for Tijuana Chinese food I guess. Overall though, with a few changes, I think they could up their food game, and be more successful. I got enough food for 2 days, so I'm probably gonna try it again because my go-to Chinese restaurant up until now was Bello Palacio but since the pandemic, their food is not even close to what it used to be, and their prices have gone up too. Good Chinese food is hard to find here in TJ. There are a few that I would drive for and this one is one of them I recommend this spot the food is good here and it's not expensive they have a 2 for 1 deal I almost always get here it's teriyaki with vegetables and white rice never fails and their teriyaki sauce is really good. Tbh everything I have tried here has been good even their soups always hits the spot...

Good food. The owners or workers know our names when we walk in the door. Can be a little bothersome with parking though. Can't beat the price.
