Such a local hub for the community. When everyone else is closed, Magañas is open. They have everything. From your favorite tacos and mexican breakfast favorites to american favorites like hamburgers and hotdogs. Grab a jamaica and a donut. No one will feel like they can't eat something here. The prices for some of the food can be a little higher than what you can find in other places and perhaps because of the extensive menu, the food is cooked a little more simply than if you go to a place that specializes in just a couple different things and revels in perfecting it. But the food still always hits the spot, the service is fantastic, and the atmosphere is so welcoming.
Then there is the cantina in the back, which can definitely see a more ex-pat crowd. It's a fun and relaxed hub for the local ex-pats to drink and cultivate community and enjoy the food from the main kitchen. A dear friend of mine will be singing there every Tuesday and Thursday from 1 to 3. So I encourage everyone to come out and support her. Such a sweet experience with kids playing, dog hanging out, and an extension of the del Valle Cafe...
Read moreIt's difficult to describe the experience we had here, but I'll try. We came here on recommendation from a "local". When we arrived there was one other family waiting for food. So we thought it would be quick. It wasn't. It took an hour for our food to be finished. Upon entry, there's the typical sign for mouth covers, sanitizer, and they check your temperature. So we thought it would be safe. It wasn't. Of the 4 women preparing our food, only 1 wore a mask properly. 3 wore their masks half up, or all the way down. Mind you, they're talking while preparing our food. In addition, one woman was preparing herself food, and then proceeded to eat while making our food. One even grabbed a French fry from our platter and ate it! We should have left immediately, but we were desperate because they were the only place open withing 30 minutes of where we were staying. Lastly, we thought the food would be good based on the reviews. It wasn't. Their vegetables were canned. The rest was mediocre, at best. Definitely only visit here if it's your...
Read moreGreat little place, not a lot of seating area, but the food was very good. Breakfast burritos looked amazing, but I can personally vouch for the Desayuno del Patron. I especially loved the macha a with beans and flour tortillas. Everything is made to order when you place your order at the counter. They also have great variety of food. Things we had: Hamburger Shrimp taco on flour tortilla Asada taco on flour tortilla Agua de jamaica Desayuno del patron which included: Machaca, chilaquiles, refried beans, eggs. We made the following changes: subbed eggs for more beans and some flower tortillas on the side. This plate was enough to fill me and my wife. Great place on the way home from...
