Excellent, high-end, authentic Mexico City type food. I say this because I took some co-workers there and they said it was too Americanized, but that's only because it's not the food they grew up with at home. They were never exposed. Don't get me wrong, I love down home rural type Mexican food, but this ain't it. I grew up 2 blocks from this place. I went there many, many times for about 20 years, I don't remember a single bad experience. The food was always well prepared, not one single bad ingredient. Another person here complained it was noisy because there were too many people. What do you expect from such a popular place? Some people north of the border might find the food too spicy. The building has a classic luxury look and combined with the classical piano music playing in the background. The volume is high enough to enjoy and low enough to have a normal conversation. The service was great we were quickly welcome upon entering. I has a plate called Mixto Mexico and it was delicious and huge it came with one Sope, tostada, enchilada,, rice and enchilada. For the Sope and tostada make sure to bite the whole thing and not just the meat in order to taste the combined flavor otherwise it may taste a little salty but once you bite the whole thing is no longer taste salty and can actually enjoy the flavor. This place has been a staple in Mexicali for a long as I can remember and, I'm sure, way before then. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, dine-in, take-out, you name it. They deliver on service and quality.
