Restaurante Sarmiento's — Restaurant in Baja California

5/14/2018 I was there over the weekend and the food was very low quality. The beans came from the can, the steak I ordered was not even mexican beef, it came fromt he U.S. Nothing was fresh but the worst thing was the wine. We were offered a sample of 2 wines and the wines were terrible. The worst wine in the valley. The valley is now known for its good food and wine and it has a reputation to mantain. I think the owners of this place have to rethink what they're doing because nor the food nor the wine are up to the quality standards of the Guadalupe Valley. Looked for a reasonably priced restaurant in the Valle de Guadeloupe and found it here! It's a fairly simple but nice Mexican restaurant with great food, good prices, and an excellent wait staff. We also met Miguel and his wife Blanca, who are truly amazing owners. They shared much about their lives and efforts here in the Valle. Really unique wine here, they have a very strong flavor of charred oak to all their wines. The vintner would be glad to describe the process to you, I wouldn't want to explain it poorly. But each wine has a roasted flavor to it which I've never experienced anywhere else. Worth trying for the experience, but not sure I'd want a whole rack of these wines.
