Sazón Veracruz — Restaurant in Campeche

We ate at Sazon Veracruz twice in two days during our visit to Xpujil / Calakmul. We really liked the food and the prices are great for the large portion sizes that you receive. Horchata was awesome, and I can highly recommend the chilaquiles. Service was a little slow, but we only ever saw one server and he was working hard to get to everyone! Also, they have bells on the tables which you are supposed to ring if you need some attention. They don’t consider it rude at all to wave down the server and ask for what you’d like. 2 stars because the service was prompt. I absolutely do not understand all these good reviews. The food had close to no taste and the dishes were not clean. We ordered 2 dishes: quesadias with champignons and cheese and taccos with champignons and cheese. The quesadillas and taccos we got were exactly identical except for the fact that the 3 quesadillas were served with a mini salad while the 6 taccos came with cucumber and radish. Absolutely blown away by this hidden gem in the middle of nowhere! The meal was exceptional—every dish was delicious, from the fresh salad to the perfectly cooked quesadillas and comforting soup. But the highlight had to be the guacamole, which my friend (a guacamole expert 🥑) declared the best she's had in all of Mexico!
