Still an absolute treat! My most recent visit was this week with a couple of friends. We were there early afternoon and got a great table before the restaurant filled up to capacity. The colourful table cloths and breeze off the bay make for a very nice setting. The wait staff is very gracious and tries as hard to speak English as we do to speak Spanish. We feel welcome. We enjoyed a frozen margarita, a mojito, and a refreshing chelada; all were delish! We shared a plate of oysters a la diablo, which were not my favourite. Other styles of the oysters are more complementary while the diablo overpowered the delicate shellfish. The filet fish was tender and delectable with a small mound of fried dried shredded Chile pepper that had a sweet aftertaste. It was served with rice, macaroni salad, and a luscious mixed salad. The seafood torta stole the day; we all took a taste and decided we'd get that next time. It came with a mixed salad and something else, maybe... we were in love with this egg pancake thick with shrimp, fish, and other seafood delectibles. Last time I was crazy about the sea-and-land kebabs and almost got them again, but decided on the alhambres instead, also the sea-and-land style. Oh My Goodness! Quickly sautéed with diced onions and sweet peppers, it was the bomb! I ate it with tortilla chips and needed nothing else. And there were leftovers that lasted less than a few minutes once I got home and my husband smelled them. This place is always high on my list when visiting Chetumal and a place I love to take friends.

We ended up here after our excursion because Restaurante Maria Sabina was packed. We were the only table seated at the time. A lot of the menu items were not available. The server was friendly but not very informative or accommodating. The food was not good at all. We had the arrachera and fish tacos. The steak had the texture of steamed meat. Not sure how you can mess up a steak so bad. Rice was cold. Salad that came with it had a sweet dressing similar to that from Japanese restaurants. We didn't like it. The fish on the tacos were ok but they put the same side salad and dressing on the tacos, ruining it. Others from my party had the ceviche which was good. The whole fried fish was bone dry. Even the chips were stale. Overall a disappointment and overpriced to top it off. Additional note, tip was included in the check and cash only.

Is a nice place for dinner if you sure in a hunt for sea food. The size of the portions are big, I order pescadillas (cazón) and shrimp tacos and I barely can finished. The pescadillas are great and with a lot of fish, my shrimp tacos were diabla style they are ok I tried the shrimp gobernador and they were delicious, also they come with side of salad, fries, rice and pasta, is a big plate. Shrimp cocktail is great And I didn't try the bread it fish but is a big plate too. Restaurant I just in front of the sea with is nice. Staff is friendly and food comes quick.

Really nice food here and I really like the colourful Caribbean-like decor and vibe of the place. But such a shame that my experience was spoilt by the crazy-looking waiter who actually offered to sell me drugs during my meal! I've eaten in restaurants all over the globe and never had that before. You expect it by a low life on the street but not in a restaurant, where you go to eat not get high. Again, such a shame as I liked the restaurant and the food is good. But if you get offered drugs during your meal, you may as well just go eat at McDonalds! Hopefully the management can address...
