TLDR: Fancy Maruchan, good for quick bight.
This is a small cozy shop, great for people who have kids. The staff was inviting, courteous and gave quick polite service. The food served is more of a Mexican/Asian fusion, rather than a traditional ramen. The pork broth had a slight spice reminiscent of chorizo. The cut of pork they use tasted like smoked breakfast ham. The menu is only available on the wall of the restaurant making it difficult to order if the dining room is full. My bowl of ramen arrived with, what appeared to be, a half cooked Maruchan noodle brick and some cabbage floating at the top garnished with shredded seaweed. I had ordered the "chuleta" of pork with my Basic Ramen, but the meat was not in the bowl when my ramen arrived. My food was taken back to the kitchen and quickly brought back to me with two 1 inch by 4 inch strips of lukewarm pork meat. This is Mexico we all grew up eating Maruchan. Some of us have even eaten the noodles uncooked with the flavor pack sprinkled on top. When the instant noodle is not cooked correctly, whether the cup or the pack, they leave a starchy flavor in your mouth. Undercooked noodles also break up in an odd way when chewed. I have consumed enough instant ramen in my life to say that the noodles were defiantly from a pack of Maruchan. That or some other kind of instant noodle that’s been steamed, seasoned, and dehydrated in oil heat. I walked out disappointed, but content that the bill was only $80 pesos. I was going to go into a tirade about Momofuku Ando and the history of the instant ramen noodle but instead ill end it with this. Thank you for scrutinizing my spelling and grammar, and trying to belittle my first comment calling it the “pretensions of a neophyte.” Then insisting in your second comment that I, “acquiring more knowledge on the subject matter and cite credible references,” like this is an English class and you’re my professor grading my paper. I read threw the other negative comments and it seems that any negative criticism is met with hostility. No attempt to resolve issues or to give apology simply antagonistic responses. Apart from those who left a one star review with no comment? As far as the ability to render my opinion credible, it’s the internet you can look at my post history and judge me from there. I’ve also reviewed Mexipon another ramen shop in Ensenada. Apart from that, I suppose that if all you can do is address my grammar and slander my opinion, then my review of the food is at least partially valid.
