la Virgen de la Cueva — Restaurant in Guanajuato

I had a high expectation for this place, but it was a big disappointment... Appetizers were decent(not the Ribye Chicharrón it was all fat), the main course was old pork meat with fridge taste. To make matters worse, the waiter made a mistake and delivered my drink to a different table (not a big deal), but the situation quickly turned around, two different persons touched the drink, smelled it and put close to their mouth. A minute later, the waiter was called to be informed that it was a mistake, and he didn't order that drink. He took the drink back to the bar and asked the manager what to do? The manager told him to bring me the same drink touched and sniffed by two strangers... that is not only a health safe violation but also completely unprofessional. After denying the drink, they quickly changed how they were treating us...so I quickly asked for the check, even though the food were bad and a fine restaurant doesn't know the health rules I still left them a tip. I thought my nightmare was over, but I was wrong! The waiter followed me to my car to tell me they AGAIN MADE A MISTAKE this time on my bill, and they wanted to charge me more. The first bill was one amount, and the second was higher. They are not only a health concern but also dishonest. I will never go back and never bring my customers or clients to dinner there again...

We found this restaurant based on a reel on instagram and let me tell you it did not disappoint! The restaurant is huge the ambiance is a dream, loved how everything was decorated and lit. This restaurant belongs to a renowned chef, and it shows in its extensive menu. The drink menu is A1 offering a variety of cocktails, beers, wine and nonalcoholic beverages. The espresso martini was delish. They start you off with a selection of breads and crackers with 4 pairing sauces. We ordered the elote and gorditas to start both excellent. My father ordered the Azteca soup which was so beautifully presented and hand poured, wonderful depth and flavor. My mother the Arechara they served it with seasonal grilled vegetables and a side salad but they also had other sides to choose from. I had the enmoladas 5 ways I can truly say it was quite the experience it was like heaven to your palate and senses highly recommend this dish MOLE is life and La Virgen de la Cuevas interpretation of Mole is just everything!! As a tourist in Guanajuato you cannot leave without stopping by this gem. Our servers were also super attentive and the valet attendants as well.

Encontramos este restaurante en un reel en Instagram y déjame decirte que no nos decepcionó. El restaurante es enorme, el ambiente es un sueño, me encantó cómo estaba todo decorado e iluminado. Este restaurante pertenece a un reconocido chef y se nota en su extenso menú. El menú de bebidas es A1 y ofrece una variedad de cócteles, cervezas, vino y bebidas no alcohólicas. El espresso martini estaba delicioso. Te empiezan con una selección de panes y galletas con 4 salsas para combinar. Pedimos el elote y las gorditas para empezar, ambos excelentes. Mi padre pidió la sopa Azteca, que estaba muy bien presentada y servida a mano, con una profundidad y un sabor maravillosos. Mi madre la Arechara, la sirvieron con verduras de temporada a la parrilla y una ensalada, pero también tenían otras guarniciones para elegir. Pedí las enmoladas de 5 maneras. Puedo decir realmente que fue toda una experiencia, fue como el cielo para el paladar y los sentidos. Recomiendo mucho este platillo. ¡El MOLE es vida y la interpretación del mole de La Virgen de la Cuevas lo es todo! Como turista en Guanajuato no puedes irte sin pasar por esta joya. Nuestros meseros también fueron súper atentos y los valet...

La cantina de la cueva was so unbelievably horrible! Occupation was excessively over safety limit. You could not walk or dance at all. If you want to order a drink you have to order at the register, extremely inconvenient as a line of 100 people is constant. Dj's are decent. Expect the place to be heavy with WEED smoke. Security is a JOKE, they searched me and my girlfriend, found nothing. They allowed us in. We smoked a clove cigarette. They kicked me out and claimed i was smoking weed, which was false. We tried to show them and they refused to even assess the situation. Pretty sure they kicked me out because i was white. Highly do not recommend unless you are ok with being...
