We read about this restaurant in the Guadalajara Reported and had to try it; glad we did. The Caprese Salad foreswore the traditional basil for oregano, and it made all the difference. It gave a welcome spike to the flavor profile. The vinegar and oil were each presented in their own small spray bottles so you could just spritz the amount of each you wanted, where you wanted, and weren’t left with the salad laying in a puddle of liquid. The spaghetti Puttanesca was the best that I’ve tasted Lakeside. The capers were enough to give it that brininess that is so appreciated. The mushroom tortellini were light and airy, with each one being a present for your mouth. It came with a delicious mushroom cream sauce. The only minor disappointment were the deserts. By the time we arrived, there was only one desert on the menu, a chocolate semifreddo, so we passed. They are said to have the best tiramisu and panna cotta, so we will try again. The service was excellent and deserved a premium tip. This place is definitely a...
Read moreWe visited the new location and were very unimpressed. At their previous location, service was friendly and attentive but our experience this evening was underwhelming. Service was slow and unfriendly. We were seated right away but ignored for sometime although there were several staff coming and going. There was a mix up in communication of part of our order and the server again was unfriendly and didn’t offer to correct it. My pasta dish was 270 pesos with very little sauce, mushrooms and tiny bits of chicken. The food was fine but given the inattentive service and high prices (you can get great service and lower prices w amazing food at Alex’s Pasta Bar or Pasta Trenta). We don’t recommend this establishment and we won’t be returning. Disappointing since at the previous location we always enjoyed the food...
Read moreWhat a find! The owner is from Rome and his Italian eplomb de cuisine shines through! The menu, although small, is fabulous. The produce is fresh and the homemade pastas are perfectly cooked. The sauces are complex and delightfully seasoned, with a subtle Mexican undertone, thanks to his wife. Our party highly recommends the Portobello Appetizer. This sublime dish is more than enough for one as a meal, or is large enough to be shared by 2 - 4 as an app. Mediterraneo jumped to #1 on our favorite Chapala restaurants. Reservations are highly recommended. It gets busy in the evening and on...
