How nice it was to walk up from the dusty streets of Melaque to an elegant , romantic , cool, open aire Vainilla Pimienta Bistro Deli. This is not a Deli in the New York sense, (no waiting at a counter to be served), but it is a Bistro, with fresh individually prepared plates prepared by 2 trained chefs served at your table. The menu is not Mexican, but a list of international favorites. Delicious. We returned the next night for more. Yum.

When you arrive Luis, your waiter will bring a large chalk board with salads, entrees, and deserts and a separate wine menu..And the prices are so reasonable. We were in Melaque for 10 days and these were our favorite meals. I was surprised on how nice the experience was.

The Bistro was starting to get busy in May 2021, so reservations could be smart. Plan for a relaxing evening of unexpected fresh flavors. Mexico is training...

We went here with a group of 10 people. Service was top notch. Drinks were coming out quickly and the server responded to all needs very quickly. Unfortunately I thought the food fell short. I ordered lamb empanadas that were just kind of OK. Not a lot of flavor and I really couldn’t tell what kind of meat was used. I also ordered Rib Eye Tacos. The tacos were dry and very disappointing. Not really any taste and everything was dry. Tacos were served with onions, cilantro and some really hot salsa. Very basic for the price of 205 pesos - for three tacos!. I only ate one and threw the other two away when I got home.

Wife got a pork dish that was served with small red potatoes. Meal was OK but nothing special.

Really wanted to like this place but probably...

Probably the best restaurant in the Barra-Melaque area. Excellent food and service, along with very good drinks and a decent wine list. Prices are on the high end for this area, but most items are worth it. Lamb shank was as good as I've had almost anywhere, and the red wine chocolate sauce on the filet was very tasty. The pork tenderloin was very good, but undercooked- rare on the first try. However they quickly resolved the problem. Side dishes like the vegetable terrine and beet strudle are excellent. The only main dish I wasn't fond of was the Tuscan chicken. It was bland compared to the others. The molten chocolate tart with vanilla sauce was just amazing. Other desserts were all good as well, except the tiramisu...

The pic of the spring rolls doesn't do it justice. They were light and delicious. The peanut sauce was perfect. I don't like many peanut sauces because they tend to taste like watered down peanut butter. Wednesday is Thai night and guest Chef Maria Castillo of Palmera Negra and Chef Gaby Ramirez of Vainilla Pimiento dazzled us with Tuna Poke and Pad Thai. The Petite Syrah from Baja was a great compliment to the meal. I highly recommend making a reservation.

Such a great restaurant! Went for New Year's Eve with my wife, and enjoyed a 4 course meal. The carrot ginger soup was very good, and the creamy seafood rice was perfectly cooked. Staff was very friendly and spoke excellent English. The regular menu had a ton of nice options at great prices. Will definitely visit again next time we're in Melaque.
