WOW. Best flavor, variety, and price of any restaurant I tried during over 50 days in Merida! An absolute must try! My wife and I stumbled upon Los Cantaros on day one of an extended visit to Merida and it was hands down the highlight of our stay. After exploring several other restaurants we found the Los Cantaros was consistently the best and most affordable meal around. As a result we ended up eating here LITERALLY EVERY DAY! First off the food is phenomenal. They prepare the meals from scratch each day and it shows. Even plates I don’t typically like were delicious here. You can order a half or full portion of each dish (half usually filled me and I eat large quantities of food). Second, the variety each week is awesome. Each day there is a new dish along with several regular options. It was so fun to show up each day and sample something new! Weekly I was able to try new dishes local to Merida and from other regions of Mexico. I was able to try over 30 different dishes and probably as many types of salsa. Third, the price is unbeatable. Once I started eating here, all other places felt expensive. In fact, even cooking at home was more expensive! Lastly, the owner David is an absolutely phenomenal human being. David truly loves to cook and puts his heart and soul into to his business. He embodies Mexican hospitality and made our experience at Los Cantaros amazing! Likewise his right hand Imelda is exceptionally kind and an excellent cook. *note: David has limited stock each day and when the food sells out, it’s gone. I recommend going between 12 and 2 to assure things haven’t sold out. If you are running behind, David will save you a certain dish if you call or text him.

My husband and I had the privilege to stay in Merida for for about 2 months recently. I can honestly say our trip would not have been the same if we had not found Los Cántaros on our first day in town. We were immediately so impressed by the delicious food, excellent customer service, atmosphere and great prices that we ate here almost every single day. We were able to try so many regional dishes that were wonderfully prepared. David, his mother and his staff were always so kind, professional, and welcoming. We are grateful for their food and friendship! As I said, our trip would not have been as awesome with out Los Cántaros. It is a MUST try!!

This restaurant was recommended by our Airbnb hostess. David, the chef, and his staff, display the true Mexican hospitality and make you feel right at home. The first time visiting we tried the ‘poc chuc’ and grilled chicken breast with their delicious ‘cascabel’ hot sauce. It was sooo good I forgot to take pictures. Our second time around we ordered the ‘bistec yucateco’ & ‘queso relleno’, both traditional dishes of Yucatan. Once again, David outdid himself. We are bound to go back once again before we leave. Did I mention it is very affordable? Your satisfaction is guaranteed! 😋
