Cochinita Country — Restaurant in Mexico City

Absolute sweatbox of a place. The heavy heat in Mexico city needs air conditioning. This place of course doesn't have it. It makes you not want to stay for long.

But, I digress. Cochinita pibil is a fine pulled pork stew. And this place probably serves some of the best you can find. Be sure to enjoy it with Bermuda onions ( red onion marinated in lime juice - YUM ) and refried beans. I would have loved it with rice, but unfortunately they only do it with tortillas.

There is chicken pibil also available, but you can't have it in make your own tacos of it. You can only get it in panuchos. Panuchos were another revelation to me. They're lightly fried tortillas until they become stiff. Then the glorious chicken is served on top. Give it a try!

Just be warned, this is going to be VERY messy eating with the broth splashing everywhere. Don't come here in your best clothes for sure. They don't give bibs but they most certainly should. Bring your...

Acabo de visitar nuevamente el restaurante pues tenía muchas ganas como siempre de comer su deliciosa comida. Pedí una orden de salbutes que son los que siempre pido porque me encantan pero para mi mala fortuna el día de hoy, mientras los comía escuché un tronido muy fuerte dentro de mi boca y pensé que había sido mi diente. Fui al baño a revisarme y de primera instancia no sentí nada ni se veía nada. Era un hueso del pollo lo que mordí. No esperaba que pasara eso, normalmente como con la confianza de que los alimentos estarán bien pero el día de hoy no tuve esa misma suerte. Se lo comenté al mesero que nos atendió y me dijo que lo iba a comentar en cocina pues a mi suegra también le salió huesito en sus salbutes. A ella no le pasó nada pero a mí se me rompió la muela superior izquierda.

Sé que los accidentes pueden pasar pero este tipo de detalles no hay que descuidarlos pues puede ser un tema delicado, ya que a mi hija le estaba dando del mismo pollo de los salbutes y le pudo haber pasado a ella y tiene 2 años.

En fin, espero extremen el cuidado en la preparación de alimentos porque es un lugar delicioso con un ambiente muy agradable pero detalles como estos,...

Went here on our last night visiting CDMX and what a way to spend our last meal. Had the sopa de lima, cochinita pibil panuchos, and campanucho sancochado. The cochinita is so juicy and flavorful. I’m just mad we’re leaving tomorrow and don’t have time to come back for another meal. Even the little salsas they give you are so good....
