El Restaurante de los Monjes — Restaurant in Mexico City

We did not eat a full meal here, just some snacks after enjoying the site and nearby hikes. Hot chocolate, flan, pastel de elote and some tamales. We had very low expectations because usually the restaurants at tourist attractions are very mediocre. However, we were so pleasantly surprised! The desserts were very good and the portions were larger than expected. The hot chocolate was delicious and perfectly hot. The tamales were small but tasty. We were there on a rainy afternoon so the place was empty, but I could imagine it being a lively ambiance on a busier day....

We went to the restaurant to grab some snaks (how cool because if we eat there, we will consume more). then this guy who claims to be the owener of the retaurant has a problem in maths and cannot devide the payment among 6 of us. he insisted one person should pay for all of us because he is not able to use the calculator. then my friend paid with her caid but he said the payment was not charged(there is no internet in the area and the billing msg didnt arrive). so he charged us cash. a few mins later the smg from my friends bank arrived and WE GOT CHARGED TWICE! going back to reimburse it he is totally acting like a mafia who denied the repeated payment and gave no solution to the situation.

Fuimos a comer algun aperitivos en este restaurante(que bueno porque si pedimos la comida consumimos mas alla) pero este senor quien es el dueno de retaurante tiene problema con matematica y no puede dividir la cuenta entre 6 de nosotros.insistio que debe de pagar todo con la tarjeta de una persona simplemente porque el no sabe usar el calculador.despues mi amiga pago con su tarjeta pero dijo ese senor que no esta cobrado(no tenemos el internet y no llego su mesaje de cobranza) entonces nos cobro efectivo.unos minutos despues llego mesaje del banco de mi amiga y nos cobro dos veces!regresamos para hacer la aclaracion y ese persona se actuo como una mafia y nego totalmente el cobro y ademas no nos...

The food was 50/50. We were a big group, but the question here was not the service. Of all the plates we ordered half were decent while others were just bad. The tortilla soup was made with old burnt tortillas, the avacados that were served were black and passed. The pancita soup had been reheated too many times. My dish, chilaquiles with steak was decent as was the coffee. It was really hit or miss. Service was good as they tried to fix...
