I have mixed feelings about this hotel. The property has great potential and it is quite a renowned place in Cuernavaca, but we ran into a couple of issues which makes giving ONLY ONE rate to the place hard. I rather break it up:
Accomodations/Room: 3 stars. The room and furniture are quite old and could do some updating. We specially had an issue with the bathtub, I think it must be at least 20 years old, it is soooo small that a person would hardly fit in, plus it looks so old that I don’t think anyone would fancy to get in it; more importantly, the bath curtain had mold, and the space between the window curtain and the bath curtain was so slim NO ONE can have a nice bath in there, specially trying to avoid being touched by it!! Considering what the hotel charges for a night, It makes absolutely no sense. We would definitely not stay the night there again.
Restaurant: 4 stars. The food is tasty, it is ok. But, considering the cost I would expect either better more modern presentation, amazing taste, bigger servings or at least exceptional service (service was fine but nothing extraordinary). The house wine was quite good. During the day we ordered cocktails and appetizers in the pool area, and at least the drinks were a bit disappointing, very old fashioned, they were lacking both in presentation and taste.
Spa: 4 stars. We only took the complimentary hydrothermal circuit and it was quite nice. The service was really attentive and the facilities were ok. Once again, although everything worked ok, I think the place needs a bit of a makeover.
Overall our experience was nice. The 3 star rating has to do mainly to the imbalance of the accommodation price and the room quality, plus the bathroom inconveniences. In the future I would rather visit the place for breakfast+spa or spa+dinner but unless they update the rooms or lower the rate I would not stay...
Read moreOnce you enter to the hotel, you cannot hear the noise and traffic of Cuernavaca. It's a beautiful and peaceful place. The gardens are well maintained. Exotic birds are everywhere, and they add more beauty to the place. They have two pools; one is located at the spa, but both are peaceful places ideal for enjoying the sun, reading a book, and sipping a drink. No people made noise or splashed loudly at the pool. The food at the restaurant is delicious. They have a wide variety of plates. All the staff, waiters, bellboys, receptionists, valet parking, and spa staff are always willing to help with a smile. Even the gardener was willing to answer my questions about some plants. I traveled with my parents, that are old and slow. Everyone was very patient with them. Also, my teens felt safe around the property day and night. The rooms are rustic, colonial style, and clean, and upon our arrival, they had a basket with fruit, cookies, and macarons. The massage at the spa was excellent. Linens were clean, and the room was zen decorated and had a pleasant eucalyptus smell. We had three lovely days, and we hope to...

If ever there was a story to support the saying of not judging a book by its cover, here you have it.
The hectic streets as you move away from the city centre give no indication of this serene garden and delightful atmosphere tucked away down an unassuming side street on the edge of central Cuernavaca!
The food is a mix of Western classic dishes and local specialities to cater to the upmarket crowd - I would strongly recommend you stick with the local specialities if your palette is inclined. They are varied, rich and incredibly delicious!
The staff are beyond delightful, friendly and very kid friendly, including well versed in English so you have plenty of opportunity to sharpen your Spanish with a forgiving crowd.
Take a stroll through the garden while you wait for your meal to be delivered and enjoy a mojito or margarita with the peacocks strolling around you... it is like a step back in time and difficult to truly put words to the full extent of the...
