I ordered dinner, I only got a serve of wasted time.
Disappointing customer service. I wouldn’t recommend at all. I attempted to place an order for dinner ( on site) and when I was offering my debit card to pay, the cashier, after inspecting my card, asked for the name of my bank. Odd, right? Who does that? During my almost 4 weeks of holidays in Monterrey, not a single person has rejected nor conditioned my purchase based exclusively on the origin of my card. “ It’s a VISA” I replied, “ I’ve got Mastercard too if that’s better”. The cashier went on and on, rambling a lengthy speech to justify why they wouldn’t take my cards. Not a language barrier, I am a native Spanish speaker. I’ve paid at shops big and small, I mean, everywhere with my foreign cards in Monterrey. Nobody asks, nobody, they just swipe and I sign. The cashier couldn’t give me an intelligent reason why they wouldn’t accept my cards other than “ This establishment only takes local cards”. I left. I felt a huge embarrassment, not for me, but for the Tea Palace for having a non-sensical policy that hurts their business more than anyone else. I went home and made a banging fried rice in half the time it took me to queue, order and try to understand what was happening. Los precios me parecen super bien ($128 el paquete de 3 dumplings) y las bebidas van desde los $50 pesos. Probé el té de fresa y el Latte Fresa con tapioca y son deliciosos.
