What a gem to be treated to as a foreigner. I was suffering from Moctezuma's revenge and needed to eat in a place that was ultra clean and safe for my stomach. Jackpot You easily want to order everything off of the menu. I settled for a soup of queso oaxaqeño with nopal ( cactus ). Amazing.
I then went for a safe tlayuda that was not cooked with lard. You have this option if you do need it. I recommend to avoid this for Westerners who are not used to Mexican food ( I haven't been for years now, not from a lack of trying ). My tlayuda was drowned in queso oaxaqeño with fresh tomato and avocado on top.
Super!!!
This could be advertised as Mexican pizza, and I bet foreigners would lap it up. Service was quick and courteous.
Eat with total assurance that you'll get some of the finest food Mexico has to offer. I don't say...
Read moreThe most horrible dishes I’ve tried in Oaxaca. My visit was on a week day, without any people inside, but the waiting time was more than in a busy restaurant on the weekend. Agua de lemon was just an artificial polvo from the bag without tiny bit of natural lemon juice. Ordered crema de elote- it was just water mixed with maizena with a cube of pollo knorr with elote dorada from the can! Not a bit of the flavour and texture! At the end tacos dorados- a lil bit better, but the pollo inside was super dry and flavourless, on the top of the tacos was just a tiny amount of some salsa that didn’t help much with such a dry dish. I’ve been living in Oaxaca for almost 2 years and really never tried such a horrible “authentic” dishes. Be carful with this place if...
Read moreAfter visiting the Mitla ruins we decided to get lunch before heading out to Hierve el Agua. This place had great reviews on Google and we decided to try it out. There were six of us and none were disappointed with the food. Of all the restaurants we had visited during our Oaxaca stay this was a standout. The mother and daughter are the second and third generation serving delicious food and recipes from la abuelita(R.I.P). The daughter of la abuelita is now the main cook and the granddaughter is the host/ server/ cashier. We would definitely...
