Authentic and traditional oaxacan cuisine at a great price, quality, and great portions just a few feet away from Tule's tree landmark and main square. The ambiance is amazing: full of art and craft decorations along with the traditional "hacienda" style of architecture. They have cooks making tortillas and some other dishes right in the middle of the restaurant in a traditional open fire kitchen. Some cons: it is always busy since it is a popular place. Try to reserve a table or plan ahead of time to avoid long waiting lines. They take cash only, and they don't split bills as most of the restaurants in Mexico. Try the Huitlacoche quesadilla a type of mushroom that grows on corn cobs, amazing! Also love that the tortillas are fresh cooked outside on a wood fired plancha by the happy abuelas. They also roast the tomatoes for the fresh salsas on the coals. Try a ‘tuna’ drink it’s a local drink made from a type of cactus, delicious and don’t worry, does not contain any fish! Would definitely come here again, it’s about a 20 min drive from Oaxaca...
