La Choza del Chef — Restaurant in Oaxaca

We were taken to this place by a tour and had no other options so decided to just eat something. Some of the food was halfway decent (mole dishes), other things like the salads and meat severely lacked flavor. The service was horribly slow and on top of that they decided to recommend their own tip to the total of 40 pesos! Politely declined to pay this, which still left a bill of 400$ which is a ridiculous price for the kind of food, with 1 formula to choose from. My girlfriend got so sick afterwards that she’s still running from bathroom to bathroom two days later.

Food was horrible and served at unsafe temperatures. Lukewarm at best. It seems they add a tip but don’t tell you and hope you will tip some more. This place seems to be used as lunch stop for tour groups although why the tour companies want to punish their customers is beyond me. Este lugar nos lo recomendaron y fuimos y la verdad es que es de lo mejor que hay en la zona, como a 5 minutos del centro de mitla sobre la carretera. Es un lugar al que acuden todos los turistas que van a hierve el agua. Todos los tours acuden a este lugar. A partir de las 12 es bufete, cuesta 180 pesos por persona y las bebidas se cobran aparte. La verdad vale la pena la comida, hay barra de ensaladas, de fruta, pastas, barra de sopas y guisos tradicionales como mole, arroz, las proteínas son pollo, cerdo y la comida tiene un sabor casero, tradicional, muy rico. También hay barra de carnes donde hay cecina enchilada, tasajo, chorizo, taquitos dorados de pollo, molotes de papa, quesadillas, tortillas hechas a mano y varias salsas. La gente que nos atendió muy amable y muy servicial aparte la barra de postres muy rica, recomiendo el mousse de mezcal, el parfait de guayaba y el strudel de fresa con queso Philadelphia. Sin duda alguna el precio que se paga por la comida lo vale y en lo personal se me hace barato. Recomiendo este lugar para quienes buscan opciones de comida típica y local.
