República Restaurant And Bar — Restaurant in Piedras Negras

This upbeat establishment has proven once again that it is the go to for great music and a serene atmosphere. Its architecture and its dishes suggest upscale eating without the upscale prices. The closest rival for me is Tierra Santa that is close by. However, whatever Republica lacks, it makes up in pure creativity. Care and love truly show in its display of dishes and an array of wonderful and unique beverages. Drinks such as serrano chile infused tequila and world class mezcal have made it into the menu. Many restaurants offer many fancy ingredients of similar caliber. Furthermore, in other parts of the world, the ingredients that Republica uses may not be earth shattering or even ground breaking. Some might even consider it average at best. Do not expect caviar, escargot or similar high ticket items. This is not the fancy type of restaurant you'd expect. This place is intended for the whole family. A wonderful play area is provided for the kids. Staff are always on standby. And food comes out quick. However, it is a true oasis in the middle of the scorching desert. Republica has offered a great service by introducing many dishes we have all grown to love and seeing seemingly plain food we are used to seeing getting a glamorous makeover is such a delight. All the dishes i have seen, even the kids meals, are all front cover magazine worthy dishes worth taking...

Today's experience in this restaurant lacked on almost every aspect.

The good: Sitting time was zero, we just walked in with no waiting whatsoever. Flavor was as expected in a Caldo Tlalpeño.

The downside: A waiter that was passing by, stopped to ask if we have already been attended by someone, almost 20 minutes after we got to our table.

The bad: It took them almost 30 minutes to bring an order of taco light with a siding of avocado and a Caldo tlalpeño. When the Caldo arrived, a spoon had to be requested since apparently everybody eats soup with a fork. Three times the waiter passed by and saw both glasses empty and couldn't offer another beverage nor a refill.

The worse: Inside the order of the taco light came a piece of metal which was fortunately detected while chewing.

The great!: We did not have to wait that much for the bill to be brought...

The food is good. I was excited to try this place excited to recommend this place but the server failed me (us) after we order we thought we order steak it was a hamburger with fries we told him we do not eat this if he can help us out right away he said no sorry . I was heartbroken for my mom so I took my enchilada to go i paid they even asked for a tip I gave it to them .i decided to go to the restroom to hide I was heartbroken to see my mom forcefully eat something she can’t eat . I hope in the future they can be understanding and caring...
