Faro Azul — Restaurant in Playa del Carmen

This little restaurant right on the beach is insanely good w lots of flavor, awesome service, amazing drinks with all ingredients fresh/organic and literally made pretty much in front of you. While enjoying the food and cocktails you have a direct view of the ocean. If you like to eat in AC this is not the pace for you. This is authentic Mexican and they’ll let you tweak the menu if you like or create your own dishes. We are here almost every day for two weeks. Our other favorites were Harry’s, Sonora grill and Polaris. Those are all 5 star steak houses and much different vibe. If your looking for extensive wine menu, a DJ and becoming at your every wim, this is not the place for yours. They have changed the menu again. Raised the prices and decreased the portion you get. Very disappointing. Been going here for 2 yrs. And you never get constantly what you order. Today we ordered the chipotle egg Benedict, which usually comes with Asparagus, but today no asparagus. And we ordered the French toast and the pancakes and they each came with 3 blueberries and 2 blackberries. Very skimpy on the fruit. Very sad, because their food use to be very good for the price. Now it’s VERY expensive...

We loved our stay at Mareazul, and eating here was a highlight of our visit! The staff was very friendly, the food was full of flavor, and the prices are much cheaper than what we found at comparable restaurants in the area.
