Habibi Pita — Restaurant in Playa del Carmen

We were lucky enough to visit when they were making a batch of Mohammarra (red pepper, walnut and pomegranate dip) - ask for it... it's fantastic! We also tried the taboule salad and chicken shawarma. The owner, Faye, was very friendly and you can quickly see how important the quality and authenticity of the food is to her, and I appreciate that. As a gringo, I also greatly appreciate that Habibi Pita has invested in a high quality water filtration system so that I can confidently drink the water and use the ice. The outdoor cafe atmosphere is nice as long as you're expecting that. Extra bonus points for great musica! A Mediterranean restaurant this good belongs on Devon...

Wonderful Family Meal at Habibi Pita

We took the family to Habibi Pita and had an amazing meal. The chicken and beef shawarma were perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. The fries were crisp, the pickled peppers added a nice kick, and the green salad (tabbouleh) was fresh and vibrant. To top it off, the owner kindly brought us complimentary coffee — it was on another level of good, rich and aromatic. We also tried the pistachio baklava, which was absolutely excellent. This place, Pita Habibi, is an absolute gem and I highly recommend it! I am a retired chef and restaurant owner and think they have filled a niche here In Playa. The falafel might be the best I have ever tasted! From the grilled beef Shawarma to the baba ghanoush, everything was cooked with love and care. I look forward to bringing friends and family here. My only recommendation is that Pita Habibi restaurant offer a “chef’s plate” for two where customers could try a little of everything. It was much too difficult to make up my mind about...
