A Must-Visit for Authentic Mexican Flavors & Warm Hospitality

Maxal was one of our favorite restaurants at Hilton Cancun All-Inclusive and the perfect way to end our stay. This restaurant truly celebrates the rich traditions of Mexican cuisine, offering a regional journey through flavors, sauces, and unique ingredient combinations.

The taco selection was a highlight—each one brought something special to the table. I’d highly recommend trying them all if you can! Some standouts included the Lobster Empanada, the Baja California Shrimp & Fish Tempura, and the Slow-Cooked Adobo Beef Quesabirria. We ended our meal with a few signature desserts and, of course, a shot of tequila to top it all off.

Beyond the food, what made the experience even more memorable was the friendly and accommodating staff. They went above and beyond to meet all of our dietary requests, and we were pleased to see that the menu offered great vegan-friendly options.

The interior of the restaurant is stunning, with a beautifully designed space that enhances the dining experience. There is also outdoor seating available, but we chose to dine inside since we had a baby with us.

One important tip—this place books up quickly, so I highly recommend making a reservation in advance!

Overall, Maxal is a must-visit if you’re staying at Hilton Cancun. From the delicious food to the warm hospitality, it’s an experience...

The ambiance is great. The service was a disaster from start to finish. 35 minutes after being seated, I was introduced to my server and her partner. They brought a water and then left. 20 minutes after that they returned to take my order. I ordered a $2,800mxn ($165 USD at the time of this review) tomahawk steak, medium rare, and an order of prawns. The steak was the nightly special. They brought my whole table prawns about 30 minutes later instead of the ice cream they had asked for.

The prawns were great. Easily the best thing I've eaten on this trip. The steak arrived an hour later, but table mates who joined me after finishing their meal waited 120+ minutes for ice cream after asking 4 separate times. The steak was unseasoned and ice cold. The only positive of the entire steak was the char on one small part of it.

No cutlery was provided. No drinks were refilled without me having to run down the server. I asked for a check and a box 3 times.

Truth be told, I attempted to gaslight myself into loving the steak because I was in Cancun, it was a massive expense, and I WANTED it to be great. It missed every single mark possible, and I had to cut it with a butter knife... I should have had the free buffet and...

Today 11/6/23 was our first night here at the Hilton Tulum Riviera Maya. Upon arrival were checked in in a very prompt manner, all the staff is 100% helpful and accommodating. After checking in, we decided to go for dinner and drinks, we tried getting some dinner at the stake house called Auma.. unfortunately dinning here is by reservation only.. we were directed to Maxal and we are so glad that this happened. our waiter was Jose, he was very attentive and provided us with superior service, second to none. The food is a 10, service a 10. Gustavo also helped us and he is very knowledgeable in all the food and drinks that they serve here. Both Jose and Gustavo are very passionate about the service they provide. Thank you Hilton Tulum staff for making our vacation...

My boyfriend and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary here and it was amazing! The baja tacos were so crispy and the catch of the day was delicious. Our waiter was extremely kind and brought us drinks without even ordering them. They asked us what we were celebrating and then brought out this beautiful plate of dessert. The chocolate cake was so good and the tres leches was even better. We might be stopping here again before we go back home! Definitely would recommend. One of the better restaurants in the hotel
