I visited with my family when we took a tour to Teotihuacan and had a bad experience. I also think some people are too forgiving with the place. I'll explain myself:
Food is not good. It is like a mediocre buffet and other than beans, they only serve international food. I was surprised to read 4 star reviews that also said food was 'meh', but the show was good. If I come to a restaurant, food always comes first; likewise, if I were to go to a show, my assessment of the experience would put the quality of the show before that of the food. If you're a vegetarian, good luck with the salads and desserts. Again, we're talking about a restaurant and good is not good.
They seem to have an agreement with tour companies and that poses a series of problems:
A. Buses are arriving with people every ~30min, which makes the place overcrowded and renders the staff insufficient to wait all the tables.
B. It seems like their line of thinking is: 'since 90% of the people are eating from the buffet we need very few people waiting'. First we tried to order à la carte, but gave up 15min in. When we switched to the buffet, the options were quite limited and food would run out very fast.
C. Since they have guaranteed a steady influx of customers after said agreement with tour operators, a lot of these issues will likely remain unaddressed for some time. The restaurant is in the crossing of two highways and the nearest place is 600m away.
If you, like us, happen to be trapped there after a tour to Tehotihuacan report them to your tour agency and rate them accordingly.
If you value more the amount than the quality of your food, then sit and...
Read moreAvoid!!! My husband and I both got food poisoning overnight / next day from eating here.
Was brought here for lunch by our tour group after visiting the Teotihuacan pyramids. We had the buffet which was part of the tour price. Buffet hygiene was a concern as the food was open for anyone to tamper.
Decent food selection (salads, rice, meats, fruits and dessert) though, no dish individually was appetizing to eat. Rice was stale, which didn't speak well of the freshness of the other dishes. There is also quasadeilla and omelette station. The quasadeilla station had lineups, so we didn't try it.
Servers brought bread rolls and a single soup to the table to be shared by 4 people which was laughable. They were efficient at clearing the plates though.
Price of drinks and tips were not included. I paid 120 pesos for 2 carbonated water and another 50 pesos for tip even though it was self service.
There was a traditional dance show during lunch service which was...
Read moreAn absolutely exquisite dining experience. I found the place by accident and it's surpassed all my dining experiences in Mexico thus far. Beautiful interior; excellent use of natural light and tastefully decorated. I didn't even mind the soft jazz which I usually hate. I had the buffet. Every dish I tried was perfectly prepared and not over-condimented. I pork in a green sauce, white fish in a corn sauce, a carrot-cabbage salad and a lettuce salad. Both the fish and the pork were so tender and melted in my mouth. There was a mouth-watering dessert table that appeared to be mostly different kinds of flan. I'm not a flan eater but I did taste a key-lime tart, a cheesecake and a rice pudding. I didn't care for the cheesecake but I ate more than one serving of the other two. If you're in the area, don't miss this place! The service was adequate; I wish my server would've checked in a little more. I only...
